Unions looking for anyone but Quinn

From the Daily News:

A new group wants to combine the political power of 17 city unions in hopes of pushing one of the mayoral candidates ahead of the crowded field.

The coalition representing about 65,200 members is the brainchild of Detectives Endowment Association President Michael Palladino and Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Norman Seabrook, whose union was one of the only labor groups to back Mayor Bloomberg’s first run for office in 2001.

“Our ultimate goal is to see if we can collectively get behind one candidate, and to put everything we have into getting that person elected mayor,” Palladino said.

The coalition includes all the unions that represent police and jail bosses, as well as the labor organizations representing sanitation workers and EMTs.

The unions hope to support a labor-friendly candidate at a time of rising public and political sentiment for reductions in union pension and health benefits.

A growing number of local labor leaders are frustrated with the early front-runner, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who supported Gov. Cuomo’s push to create a lower pension tier that slashes retirement benefits for new hires, labor insiders said.

“What has she ever done for labor?” asked one union president, who requested anonymity.

if a "labor friendly "mayor means extorting what is left of the private sector taxpayers ,still earning an income, the publlc unions and rank and file will be broke when the taxpayers leave the city.

the public union leaders are fools to think they will prevail in this depressed economy.

Really....
the unions have the power to break the city with slow downs and strikes.

It's happened before.

Christine quinns people got john liu nearly under indictment for fundraising technicalities because he was picking up union endorsements for mayor. Anyone who supports quinn has Got to be morally bankrupt. She's a hack.

It's not as if Quinn or any other candidate for mayor is advocating moving from a defined benefit plan (a pension funded by future unborn taxpayers) to a defined contribution plan (funded in the current year).

This is happening all over the country as cities and states realize that their fiscal cliff is unfunded pension liabilities.

C-mon, boys and girls...
it doesn't really matter who becomes our next mayor,
because the NYC real estate industry owns them
and will run the city (backstage) as usual.

Did you ever attend a good puppet show?

Watch how deftly the puppeteer moves his fingers
up the asses of his rubber dolls to get them to do what he wants.
