Soccer stadium & CitiField mall not popular w/residents

From NBC:

Hundreds of neighbors turned out for a town hall meeting in Corona Monday to voice concerns over redevelopment plans for Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Neighbors are worried that the potential plan to build a soccer stadium in the park -- as well as another plan to replace and expand the facility for the United States Tennis Association -- would take away public park land.

Replace and expand the tennis facility - they are instrumental in providing free or low cost instruction and play to youngsters and adults - they are a gem. If a soccer stadium were incorporated within the USTA scheme - would be ideal otherwise a separate stadium is undesirable.

They are "a gem"
ONLY in Bloomberg & Company's crown.

They are a major nuisance to the surrounding area.

The nonsense that they "give back" to the community
is PURE FABRICATION...or in other words
just bushels full of BULLSHIT !

The neighborhood continues to be under served after the sports fans return home to Connecticut, Westchester or Manhattan!

Expand the USTA facility over the 7 Train railyard. That way not an inch of parkland is touched.

Put the stadium in Penn Station...LOL!

Build that new soccer stadium in Forest Hills.
It can replace their old dilapidated tennis stadium.

Never mind...
FH's Jewish residents won't exactly warm up to Latinos being on their turf.
It might bring down the value of their real estate.

They don't like any noise past a pin dropping ...
spoiling their insular existence.

That's why they wanted the Aquacade demolished.
Someone had the money in hand
ready to develop it as a light music venue.

Uh...his skin was of a darker hue...
and that simply wouldn't do.

We haven't heard from Ben Haber yet.

Once again, FMCP, isn't a real park in the true sense.
It's merely leftover fairgrounds with a few bells and whistles added.

HOWEVER...
WE SHOULD NOT BE LOSING ANY MORE GREEN SPACE
IN A BOROUGH THAT IS IN DANGER OF CONSTANTLY BEING PAVED OVER!

The park is huge. I feel like they could manage the new field. If they shared the parking with the mets who rarely if ever pack up their lots.

Eventually that whole land over there is going to get developed since people want to live closer to the city not away from it. Bloomberg found a spot in the city where he can keep building that some people will actually pay money for. There are so many ridiculous Bloomberg projects around Main street already.

Building there doesn't provide housing for people. And taking away parkland requires finding it somewhere else. Where will that be once every s,over of land has been built upon?
