I love how Avella says to allow the city to take over these properties. The city has a ton of properties that are in the same shape or worse that they don't have the money to fix.
When are we going to get the legislation we need to protect our communities. This is a really really big problem in our city.Talking about legislation isn't working.
If legislation needs to be changed, why isn't it getting done. All the city can do is issue violations with fines. This would be great if it worked. It's not working, the fines don't have to be paid and the violations don't have to be corrected.
Not to sound like a broken record Super Halal Meat Market, 253-06 Hillside Avenue in Bellerose Qns, This store should never have been allowed to open in Bellerose. This store was expanded, renovated and opened without getting any city permit. Some permits were only obtained when inspectors finally responded to our many complaints. The owners of this store knew it was easier to build illegally and the city couldn’t to do anything to stop them. The store still doesn’t have all the required permits other businesses in NYC must have (HVAC permit, refrigeration compressor permits, illuminated sign permit). In addition to all the overdue and unpaid violations, why isn’t the city enforcing these requirements?
This is a lousy system and it need to be changed. It’s a good system if you’re violating the law. The system sucks if you’re homeowners who can’t open your windows or enjoy your backyard anymore. This store is clearly operating illegally and in violation of many zoning laws that should be corrected. If only the New York City Buildings Department and other city agencies would do their job. This store has so many issues it should be a priority with the city. What has happened at 253-06 Hillside Avenue, Bellerose, NY 11426 should never have happened. The laws need to be changed to protect other communities.
NYS Department of Agriculture did an inspection last week of the Super Halal Meat market in Bellerose. This store should not be operating at this location. In addition to the many critical and general deficiencies. The report states that the establishment has insufficient space to accommodate this type of store. This is exactly what the neighbors the block have been complaining about. The NYC Buildings Department is enabling this store to operate. Why can't they they enforce the current laws.Check out the DOB website they have ignored many of the violations this store has and should have.
The same owners are operating the wholesale meat & chicken business from 137-44,94 Avenue,Jamaica,NY11435,they are changing the regular chicken boxes and putting the HALAL sticker to get more price from the innocent customers. This place is more nasty than the bellrose location, the whole block is very distrub with their dirty place and activities, but who cares......USDA and NYC/NYS Department or customers/neighbours? If you see this dirty place, you never even think to eat meat or chicken, I recommend Channel 11 team to go there and watch their location.RRR

Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt

Thanks again Crappy, your blog is a Godsend for Queens.

What should happen is if the proper permits are not obtained, and the structure is built, it should be dismantled to conform. No fines.....FIX IT!!!!!

The reporter went from Bellerose to Bellmore in just two minutes. Impressive!
