City lied to community to get rezoning passed

From the Brooklyn Paper:

Williamsburg’s largest waterfront park has stalled — perhaps permanently — because the city doesn’t have the cash to buy the land.

City officials dropped a bombshell on community leaders last Thursday, revealing that they had no money and no timetable to buy several private properties off Kent Avenue and N. 11th Street surrounding the 28-acre Bushwick Inlet site.

Infuriated community leaders accused Mayor Bloomberg of revoking the city’s long-standing agreement to build parks at the edge of the East River in exchange for rezoning most of the waterfront for luxury high-rises in 2005.

Borrowing from,
and agreeing with, actor Charles Laughton's animated retort in the film "Witness For The Prosecution":

Bloomberg is,
and will continue to be,

"A chronic and habitual LIAR"!!!!

Now that he's pulled his schvance out of the community's ass and gotten what he wanted, he'll go to another nabe and do the same.

I hope you voters enjoy the 3rd term you've given this neighborhood rapist!

One of the reasons that people in Queens need to hear what is going on in the broader city.

The problem is we are cut off and not talking to these people and comparing notes.

We are held back by the local politicians, the local media, and, this sucks but is true, the local civic culture.

Yup, Queens is led by a bunch of ass-kissing moronic civic types that lack both the backbone and grey matter to change things.

THAT my friends, is why Queens is filled with polite doormats which sets the pace for civic discourse in our borough.

Liar liar - pants on fire. If Mayor Mike was Pinocchio, his nose would be so long, he wouldn't be able to walk without tripping over it.

He made his money on collecting advertising dollars from his rich wall street brothers and you thought he was a genius! Well most of you voted for him three times; enjoy.

Well, it seems to me that the Community Board and local councilman did not bother to do due diligence.

You do not have to be a rocket scientist to know that another million people and all this development when the country as tottering on the edge of a toilet is not a good thing.

Ah-ha....
The Behar Boys strike again.

"If Steve Behar was president of cb 11"....I think you meant chair, bub....their combined votes, edicts and opinions will still be purely advisory....holding no real weight whatsoever and therefore totally ineffective!

Welcome to CB#11....
the "country club".
