Kelly for mayor?

From NY1:

While he has never publicly expressed an interest in running, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is a top choice to be the next mayor.

According to a new Quinnipiac University Poll, he has the support of 23 percent of city voters in an early look at the 2013 mayoral race.

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn comes in second with 18 percent, followed by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and City Comptroller John Liu.

If Kelly was not in the race, 23-percent of voters say they would back Quinn.

The poll was conducted from July 19th to the 25th with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.

Holy cow. This is two years from now. Can we wait a little while longer before we start with this nonsense?

No cop will EVER, EVER, I mean EVER get my vote.

This man is a pandering boot licker to his superiors and a vindictive egomainacal tyrant to his subordinates. He is just about done completely demoralizing and destroying the NYPD. Any New Yorker who votes for him is sealing the coffin shut on NYC.

I was a cop for 26 years and I am inclined to second your sentiment, though I have a feeling, for vastly different reasons than yours. In my tenure, it has been my experience that the police department tends to create followers, not leaders.

Kelly wil be 72 years old when the 2013 election rolls around.

I would never vote for a candidate, any candidate, who is that old.

I'd rather have him than Slush Fund Queen Quinn or My Dad Served Time for Embezzlement Liu. Kelly is a smart guy and I'd take my chances with him anyday. Slim pickings for mayor next time. Don't forget -- Bloomberg might decide to run/buy another term.

Kelly can't control crime in NYC, so lets make him Mayor!

I would vote for any of those other three over Kelly. I'm not voting for some pig.

Of the other three, I find John Liu the least annoying. But what would he do as mayor? That's the thing.

Quinn and Markowitz I both find annoying. But Quinn is even more annyoying than Markowitz, which is hard to do.

So I guess my choice would either be Liu or Markowitz. I don't really like any of the four.

I hope Charles Barron runs, because I love Charles Barron! That would be a great race: the former Black Panther versus the former Marine pig.
