Whitestone Farms eyesore gets worse

Some time ago we sent a second set of photos to this blog about the old Whitestone Farms property on the corner of 154th street and 11th avenue. Since that time Councilman Halloran was able to get the front gate painted in effect removing the graffiti. His office was also able to pressure the landlord to board up the building with plywood in order to prevent the drug users that had taken up residence within the property.

Unfortunately the landlord is still not taking care of his property. The brown gate is once again covered in graffiti, the plywood used to board up the broken glass is also graffitied, the garbage strewn across the entire parking lot, the awning in front is ripped and falling apart, and the top half of the building along the 11th avenue side is filled with graffiti.

To top it off, the sidewalk in front of the property is crumbling and a hazard to walk on. Especially for the Children that go to the park directly behind the site, as well as the children that attend PS 193. You can also see broken glass and rusted metallic signs against the chain link fence (arms length) that separates the Basketball Court from the property.

There is a sign on the front of the buildings Chain Link Fence advertising it for Lease, there is a phone number on it, I urge all Whitestone Residents to call that number and demand they clean the site up!

We also ask that all Elected Officials, and Civic Leaders, do whatever is in their power to have this EYESORE cleaned up.

President

I'll let that masterpiece stand on it's own.

Where's Blabs to tell us how beautiful this area is, as she usually does?

Call a press conference - they'll all be there in a flash.

Was that site once owned by Zucarello of the Queens Garden Center?

Call in the Malba mobsters.

They'll get the job done ASAP before our electeds wipe their asses!

Anonymous said...

They'll be there in a flashbulb and invisible after the evening news has run!

Whether it's hollerin' Halloran or phony Tony....those pols are all the same.

Job #1 for them is getting re-elected!

Results are optional.

Somebody who lives in Malba is lecturing about eyesores??

Let Al Centola get off his ass and paint out some of the graffiti personally....as many other real community leaders do around the borough.

Think of the great photo op..."big" Al with a brush in his hand when he...LOL...runs for office.

Maybe Beechurst's Sicilian/Borchettano "made" guys will look into this and deal with the mess.

Queens Crapper said...

So you're advocating that Al Centola trespass in order to clean up the property?

Do you need another Geography Lesson? Its called Malba Gardens, nothing at all to do with Malba. Malba Gardens is a community on the outskirts of malba made up mostly of modest single family homes on 40 x 100 lots. Yes there has been an increase in tear downs and that is because people that grew up in the community want to raise their families here and need and or want a little more room.

As for Al Painting it himself, it would subject him to arrest as it is not his property.

Photo op when he runs? Last I read, Al said he had no desire to run.

I think he is wrong and should run, but before you start making allegations, know what you are speaking of.

I nominate Al Centola Write in Candidate.

The one and only, he also owns the building Hallorans office is located in, as well as Mario D'elia's wifes office.

BTW, Zucarello is Dennis Rings Brother in Law, you know Hallorans former Chief of Staff and Attorney. Who BTW now practices law in one of his other buildings on 14th avenue.

It all ties in. Just watch the next couple of months are going to be an eye opener. $500,00 to whom? for what?

the graffetti is being done by the local elementary kids aka ps193. you can see the numbers 193 written in spray paint, it will happen to any empty building in qieens.

as soon as STEVE BEHAR runs for congress, it wont be a problem. maybe we can turn the building into a LGBT adoption clinic and matt silversteing can get the funding from christine quinn, and then he can be elected for city council, i'm sure the voters of laharve would love that right next to there elementary school

Anonymous said...

why was evan stavisky walking behind dave weprin on the news going into the press confrence for his anouncement to run for congress, why does evan stavisky get paid to run queens when he lives upstate, why do a handful of jewish apartment buildings in forest hills dictate to the voters of queens.

Anonymous said...

yeah the ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS. you are a rocket scientist I see. 193 is a group of kids aka gang that hang out in the park and they call themselves 193 crew.

Councilman Halloran has been asked to get the owners from Manhattan to own up and clean up the mess but he have the ability to pull it off. Time for new blood in his council district. Vote out this worthless incumbent.

Anonymous said...

250 thousand people in the district who will be the next councilman. You got some ego maniacs who think because of their family name they are entitled. And some misfit weirdos who think kissing ass to stavisky will get them the seat. Dan has a better chance of retaining seat then some think.

This property is owned by Eliot Tawil of Wharton Proberties. An absentee landlord who can clean up his own mess without either government assistance or free labor from our community.
Come on Dan Halloran, show us you can accomplish this one little job, just like your old eagle scout days.

Anonymous said...

Why don't all of you just call eliot tawil, his number is on the sign and let him bring his brush over and clean up the gafitti and leave the poor councilman alone.

Anonymous said...

Yes, leave the poor councilman alone. He is busy helping out Franco, Barone, and all the othe guys looking to build big in Whitestone.

The Councilmans job is to help his constituents.!

Al, Thanks for keeping this eyesore in the forefront. We need more people like you. Thank you.

is not this property one half block away from the former WHITEHOUSE CAFE RESTAURANT ?

the space which tony avella held one of his infamous rent a crowd protest photo ops ?

this strip of stores and two story houses have a strange zoning . are they not R-2a ? Why ?

is it commercial or resedential ?

Anonymous said...

Gramps, are you not being pompous and snide? Why???

Anonymous said...

Where the "Greater Whitestone Taxpayers Civic Assocaition" on this? Doing nothing as usual!

Anonymous said...

I'm fully aware of the legal issues, "Crappy".

Al can get permission just like our volunteers do in our nabe.

Al seems to be mostly "big talk" and "little walk".

Some 20 years ago, a Queens Garden Center (Zuccarello family member?) guy beat a (DEP?) city inspector with a shovel when he came to inspect their joint.

It made the local papers!

They were caught watering their stock ILLEGALLY during imposed watering restrictions in the middle of a drought.

Are they Gambino connected?

That might explain Halloran's approval of Joey "D'or" Franco's White House Restaurant expansion and his other shady associations.

H-m-m-m....come to think of it....
the Zuccarellos threw quite a large Halloween bash in Bowne Park for Halloran's run against Kevin Kim.

I offer this as food for thought.....not an accusation.

So you want Al to get permission to clean up this guys property instead of casting a light on the blight, and forcing the owner to do the right thing?

You have to be kidding. Why can't we expect people to take responsibility for their property, and their neglect? Why do community leaders have to Clean up a mess that belongs to others, whom I might add, have enough money and resources to do it themselves.

You and people like you are what is wrong with our complacent, deteriorating, City.

Anonymous said...

LOL....
Centola as a write in candidate?

You gotta be kidding!

He means well but he's unelectable.

So where does that leave you?

With a split voting pattern that guarantees another machine pol gets elected.

Anonymous said...

You're the one that's complacent.

I clean my own property....have volunteered numerous times to clean and paint out graffiti on other people's property....and I speak up loudly when the city doesn't do their job.

That's called being a REAL community activist instead of a phony complainer.and a good citizen.

Mr. Centola gotten a taste of publicity and has turned his developing love for it into becoming a self appointed blow hard!

Interesting that I attended a meeting with a certain group and a certain person kept talking about "What Civic Leaders do", I can't remember her name, something like Barb, might be short for Barbara not sure. But , it sure sounds like her here?

Self appointed Blow hard? I for one appreciate everything Centola is doing, at least he signs his letters and doesn't hide behind "Charters" and annonymous posts attacking others.

Anonymous said...

Who is al centola. Is he that guy from whitestone that gene kelty and bitterman and appelian mock and make fun of.

Anonymous said...

No Civic Leader or citizen should clean up the mess left by a millionare absentee landlord, and only a half wit would even suggest it. It's the Councilman's responsility to bring this issue to the public, but he lacks the cahones. Also remember that they said Halloran was unelectable, so don't bet that Centola couldn't beat the present field of useless politcos.

Anonymous said...

alfredo centola will make mincemeat out of all those parkside hacks. If stavisky thinks steve behar has candor wait to they see al centola in action.

Anonymous said...

If kelty, apelian and bitterman are laughing, it's not at centola, it's at you and the rest of the public for the joke they've put over on you!

Great job Al, Keep being a "Blow Hard" for our community.

There was Tony Grandstanding as usual. But, who cares really, as long as it gets cleaned up.

Thanks Al

Please wake us up when you can post some results from your 5 minutes of TV fame.

Tony was interviewed of course, as were local residents.
