Alan going to jail

From the Daily News:

State prosecutors will seek maximum prison time for disgraced ex-Controller Alan Hevesi, the Daily News has learned.

Hevesi, 71, is facing up to four years behind bars when he's sentenced next week in Manhattan for his role in a massive pension fund pay-to-play scandal.

New Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office will push for Hevesi to get the same 1-1/3- to four-year sentence imposed last month on his aide, and scandal leader, Hank Morris.

Hevesi's lawyer Bradley Simon had no comment Monday.

what is the point in putting a 71 year old man in jail

Anonymous said...

yeah, just let him go free.

where is his stash?

Maspeth Mom says....

What the point....the point is to show others that if they commit the same crimes they will also go to prison. If your not too old too commit the crime you are not too old for prison.

The point is don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Too bad his son the former State Senator isn't going with him.

Seems that the Daily News doesn't know who is sentencing Hevesi.

"The AG is borrowing state Inspector General Ellen Biben to handle the sentencing. She oversaw the case as ex-Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's integrity chief."

"He will be sentenced by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lewis Bart Stone, who tossed Morris in the slammer.

There is no age discrimination in crime!

Troll!

Did he, like Madoff, say "my son didn't know anything about this?"

Pay to play is okay if you take union pac money for pols campaigns tho? Most politician are unethical, the whole system is corrupt. They pick and choose what is criminal and what is not. Its a very fine line these guys walk. And we wonder why most politicians have law degrees.

I understand the philosophies underlying both specific and general deterance in criminal sentencing, and while not condoning the conduct for which Mr Hevesi was convicted, when a career public official is indicted, tried, & convicted, and their ego deflated in the same process during which their "good name" is self-destructed, incarceration serves no true purpose other than retribution and vengence.

georgetheatheist said...

And retribution and vengeance are not called for?

Sad on one hand that he allowed his arrogance to over-ride his knowledge of right from wrong. Now he must make restitution to the people in the form of time!

I would agree to keep him out of jail if he agrees to give up his double-pension and sell his house and turn over the proceeds to the State of New York. Then he can go live in a homeless shelter.

how about they investigate the ties between the democratic state senate conference and the parkside group

Maspeth Mom has it right. If you let a person stay free because of their age, then it sends a message that it's not serious for people who follow. A crime is a crime is a crime. And the worst crimes are crimes of violence against innocent people and THIS!!... A public official misusing the trust of the public he serves. Lock him up!

seminerio and madoff went to prison at a late age for criminal activity.

why is hevesi so special that he go free?

He'll have plenty of $$$ in his commisary fund. He'll also need to spend a lot of $$to pay the top dog gang protection money........

Hubris.

Finally. He got away with too much.

The problem with putting Hevesi in jail is that it will not deter our illustrious politicians from stealing whatever they can, whenever they want from the public coffers. The really sad part is that the system is rigged so that the powerful stay in power and steal legally. ONE TERM LIMITS WORKS FOR ME AND THEN LIFETIME LIMITS AGAINST BECOMING A LOBBYIST.
YOU SAY IT CAN'T BE RUN LIKE THAT, WELL IT ISN'T RUNNING SO GOOD NOW.

Chain Hevesi to Mc Laughlin, Stavisky, Shulman, etc.

Hell...clap that whole f-----g Dem-machine clubhouse in a chain gang and let them do road work in Queens!

Anonymous said...

Small potatoes!

Where is the "stash" that the Staviskys have been skimming off the North Flushing Senior Center for years?

They've allocated a bundle for the "old folks" but have spent peanuts on them.

Just how low can a politician go?

Well the Stav's good pal Mc Laughlin stole from his own little league baseball team...proving they're in "good company".

Maybe the "N.Y. Post" will get on the story.

If they do...Evan will call up Ruppert Murdoch screaming and crying like he always did with Steve blank when he ran the Times Ledger.

Those Stav's never liked the media showing them up to be the scurvy villains that they really are.

So he dies in jail at 80!

And the butt warming he'll be getting from his cellmate will help Alan pass the time of day!

Maybe he'll even write a book about it all, "From Fucker to Fuckee".

Chapter #1 might begin with:

"First I did it to my constituents and now the inmates are doing it to me".

"First I did it to my constituents and now the inmates are doing it to me".

YES indeed! Spread those cheeks Al and spread that venom!

Throw the pig in jail.

If you let a 71 year old off the hook, you're inviting a senior citizen crime spree. Anyone with a walker will feel like they can break the law and get away with it.

A lot of seniors might do better in jail than try living out their remaining years on inadequate social security payments.

In "club fed" facilities the food has got to be a whole lot better than some of the cat food a few seniors are forced to consume at home in order for them to make ends meet.

And you get free medical treatment there too.

I'm gonna go out and commit a crime.

will he still collect his three government pensions ,while in prison ?
and in addition he will get free medical and dental care.

will the he be given "entertainment" by the same group that brought the hookers into prison?
