Confirmed: City doesn't want Koch Bridge!

New York City voters oppose 64 - 24 percent renaming the Queensborough Bridge to honor former Mayor Ed Koch. Opposition ranges from 53 - 32 percent on Staten Island to 70 - 20 percent in Queens.

"How's he doin'?" When it comes to naming a bridge after Mayor Ed Koch, not so good, said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

Your right. But you have your directions mixed up.

It's either jam it DOWN your throat or jam it UP somewhere else ;)

Neither do I, nor does: Howard, Marion, Joanie, Richie, Chuck, Potsie, Ralph Malph, Arnold, Al, Jenny Piccolo, Lori Beth, Pinky and Leather Tuscadero, and even Sticks is opposed!

This is ironic, considering all of us live in Milwaukee!

Ed Kotch coined the phrase "Bridges Don't Vote" after he took away money for basic bridge maintenance (including painting) when his plans to set up tolls on the east river bridges fell thorough in the early 80's... and now they want to name the infrastructure he left out to rust after him? Ridiculous.

"Ed Kotch"

The city council doesn't give a shit when the voters speak their mind in a referendum (i.e. term limits). They're certainly not going to be bothered over a poll. They'll do what they want and the dumbass pussified voters will re-elect them.

Funny thing...
I know a lot of Queens residents who are dumb enough to call it the "59th Street Bridge".

I guess that their own borough embarrasses them.

Who can blame them?

Their eagerer to get to Manhattan...so much so that they already see 59th Street as the golden gateway to the golden isle!

I think we ought to dig a little deeper into Krotch. Perhaps I should do a hands on inspection?

Such comments. I give you Queens Crappers credit...but all others will pay cash tolls to go over the Kroch Bridge.

Why not name the Brooklyn Bridge after Koch? I'm sure THAT would fly!

Sorry Koch you didn't do anything for Queens then - in fact you didn't paint the bridge and let it rot. When Mayor Guliani administration was left to restore the bridge the work took 2x as long to perform because of the long neglect. Of course those who use the bridge (Queens motorists) had long delays due to the work. Get lost Koch - find another bridge or better yet rename Park Ave to Koc Ave - that will go over really big there!!!!

Given the financial condition of our city, how about: "Bridge of Sighs," "Bridge over Troubled Waters" or "Bridge-Loan"...
