Stein stays out of jail

From CBS:

A judge has decided that a once-prominent New York City politician can serve 500 hours of community service rather than jail time for income tax evasion.

Magistrate Judge Ronald Ellis imposed the sentence Tuesday after former New York City Council President Andrew Stein apologized and said he’ll live with the pain of his misdeeds for the rest of his life.

“I’m extremely sorry for the mistakes I made and I look forward to making a contribution again,” Stein said.

Ellis said he had planned to sentence Stein to prison but changed his mind after he listened to arguments on Stein’s behalf.

Give me a break.

This sets a very bad example.
What is Senator Carl Kruger going to plead down & get 1000 hours of Community Service if he is convicted of his crimes?
I guess it's always who you know not what you know.
Actor Wesley Snipes is doing 3 years for the same crime of tax evasion. where's the equality here of sentencing. What a FARCE !!

and the government convicted politicians hall of shame?

I always thought that if you did the crime, you did the time. I guess that's only for the average Joe. This is why all these politicians commit so many crimes. They know that nothing is going to happen to them and they will do no jail time. Disgusting. Hevesi will probably walk, as well as Kruger. This is why New York Politics is so corrupt.

How do you think I feel? They won't even charge me with anything. This makes me sad. I need a good ego stroke, as usual. Oh Evan. I've got something for you to do...

No surprise here.
As usual ZOG appointed ZOG always sides with ZOG.
Stein, the judge and prosecutor all belong in jail.

The average person would get a year min talk about mass corruption on local government level.

Since you're so obsessed with ZOG, why don't you move to nations that are equally obsessed with ZOG? You know - Libya, Iran, Saudi Arabia...

Good Andy...you can start by wiping my community minded ass!

How's that for community service?

Forget it...I wouldn't trust that thieving scum behind my back!

I cannot begin to tell you how many people are in federal prison serving time for tax evasion. The system picks and chooses... doctors who have bucked the AMA, individuals who pissed off a politician, tax preparers who take on the IRS.. and of course John Q. public. This stinks!!

the truth must really hurt the "slightly liberal" restauranteur, who lives large off of the labor of his bike delivery jockeys,on the U.E.S.

Is not bike delivery jockey dictatorship grand?

Just like Dave Paterson his rich Dad’s powerful connections kept him out of jail. He lied to the judge when he said he wanted to be a role model and I wish Barbara Walters had to testify under oath about Stein instead of lying for him.

That is either brilliant free association, or advanced dementia.

RE: guess we should move to Wash.D.C.?

you don't seem to want to distinguish the rino's from the 63 TEA PARTY CONSERVATIVES,who now represent the districts in the U.S.A that rejected the spend and tax lib/democrats in 2010?

you just can not hide anymore, behind propaganda.

when the left coast and moscow on the hudson citizens wake up, socialism/progressivism will disappear like the berlin wall.

HA! tell that line to the "Koch" brothers who bankrolled the whole tea party charade. Give a toss to Fox and those dying AM radio stations too.

"when the left coast and moscow on the hudson citizens wake up, socialism/progressivism will disappear like the berlin wall."

Old man, do you have -any- idea what may happen...no what WILL happen in the coming months? There will be a redistricting of party/voter lines in NYS.

IF the push for a non-partisan redrawing is successful (which it eventually will after a court battle from the gop) your republican party will finally find itself without the artificial sustenance of gerrymandered district lines and it will wither to -very- local viability.

Bet on it.
