Jamaica courthouse parking scam

MYFOXNY.COM - Metered spots near a Queens courthouse that should cost a few quarters per hour are being sold for as much as $20.

Arnold Diaz exposed this scam that you need to watch out for. It involves workers at a private parking lot across from the Queens County Supreme Court on Sutphin Boulevard, where parking costs up to $27 dollars a day.

But their scam involves selling metered spaces on the street that they have no right to sell. These are spaces badly needed by the public.

And the asshole judges that see this going on day in and day out? That's right they haven't had a raise in 10 years.

Arnold Diaz uncovered the exact same scam a couple of years ago near the Beacon Theater on the UWS.

George, don't blame the judges, blame the consumers who allow it to happen. It takes two parties to enter into an illegal contract. I'll bet there are plenty of people who willing went along w/ this scam and will pisssed when they have no spot on Monday!

Nah, I blame the judges. You stand on the top of the steps of the Supreme Court building as you exit and you tell me you can't see the bright orange traffic cones directly in front of you across the street? And the court officers see this all the time as well.

"A parking scam? None of MY business. Just doing my [overpaid] job".

did he say that the cops said its the DOT who have to fix this?

And people from the 105th Precinct park illegally wherever they want in the neighborhood, ignoring alternate-side rules. And people from various gov't agencies with federal license plates park in bus lanes on Jamaica Avenue, as well as at meters all day long, depriving consumers of parking spots.

No George, when you're a judge you have your own spot and come and go from the back of the building. Seriously, I know these parking scoundrels and I am so glad they got busted. But if you want to blame someone other than them - blame the lawyers and litigants (and other courthouse employees) who happily handed over $20 to have someone feed their meters. BTW - when I go to Jamaica and Kew and Brooklyn - I take the subway!
