McLaughlin gets 10 years

From the NY Times:

Brian M. McLaughlin, the former president of the nation’s largest municipal labor council, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined $25,000 on Wednesday by a federal judge in Manhattan who said Mr. McLaughlin “so abused the trust of institutions and people who depended on him that it sort of staggers the mind.”

A document made public Wednesday shows Mr. McLaughlin has agreed to forfeit more than $3 million in illegal proceeds of his crimes.

Judge Sullivan ordered that Mr. McLaughlin, who remains free on bond, surrender to the authorities on July 21.

Funny... NY Times article... doesn't use the word "democrat" in the first three paragraphs. Wonder why?

What about Senator Frank Padavans letter to the judge saying Brian McGlauglin was a dedicated public servant. I wonder how all those Little League parents in Bayside and Whitestone are going to feel about that. What a horrible message to defend that crook for stealing $2.2 million dollars.

This is what that hack Padavan wrote about the guy who stole $2.2 million dollars:

"While I have no direct knowledge of the legal matters involving Brian McLaughlin, I have known Brian for over two decades,” Padavan wrote on his official Senate stationery. “I worked closely with him in advancing important legislation in the Senate and Assembly. In addition, I have known Brian to be a dedicated community servant, an active member of his parish and a loving father.”

When did Frank Padavan become a complete hack ? The guy is shameless. I will never vote for him again and neither will any of my neighbors.

How many corrupt politicians are still cringing when they realize that McLaughlin still might sing to reduce his sentence or get favorable treatment while he is in prison with his own kind?

What is wrong with these idiots ? McGlauglin ? Semenerio ? Padavan ? Gallagher ?

Get out the paddy wagons, rond up the entire queens machine, and ship them all away.

When I see Frank Padavan at my kids next Little League game, I am going to throw a hardball at his head. What is wrong with this fool ? This is what happens when you live off the taxpayers dime for 30 years with a $32,500 lulu on top of your $80,000 salary plus $150 in expenses every day. Frank Padavan stopped fighting for taxpayers a long time ago. Now he just defends crooks.

Someone was handing out this story on Padavan last week at our union meeting. People were pissed off. We all voted to send him a letter demanding an apology.

Wow, a Padavan troll.

Get real. That phony Frank Padavan has been bullshitting us for thirty years. The guy is an a-hole.

Ok, Frank Padavan has been bullshitting us for 30 years (as do most politicians).

But McLaughlin stole $3M.

And Frank Padavan wrote a letter to a judge on his official stationary saying McLauglin was a "dedicated community servant".

This was AFTER, AFTER McLauglin had pled guilty to stealing $3,000,000 from union members and Little League children and recieving kickbacks from city contract holders.

You want to excuse Padavan for that, go ahead. But there are not too many citizens of this city, state or country who wouldnt be outraged at Padavan once they heard this.

Its common sense. Padavan is either corrupt (which I dont think he is) or completely out of touch with any ethical boundaries.

The guy has been in office too long and thinks that HE can grant forgiveness to crooks.

Why defend Frank Padavan for writing a glowing letter of recomendation to a judge on behalf of Brain McGlauglin ?

The guy stole $3,000,000.

Its funny how Shams blasted Frank's letter first and then asked to read it.

i am sure whatever deal Frank Padavan cut to write that letter will come to light one day.

The words speak for themselves:

"While I have no direct knowledge of the legal matters involving Brian McLaughlin, I have known Brian for over two decades,” Padavan wrote on his official Senate stationery. “I worked closely with him in advancing important legislation in the Senate and Assembly. In addition, I have known Brian to be a dedicated community servant, an active member of his parish and a loving father.”

Brian: Uh listen Liz, even though you're not my wife I think I can get you on my conjugal visit list?

Liz: Uh sure Brian, err I mean err, I can visit you in prison err so ahh can you tell me what is a conjugal?

what kind of moron would write that letter ? El Tabone better go across the border to el chicas in laws and get someone to help change the old mans diapers.

Everybody knows Padavan did this cause he thinks he is currying favor with unions. The guy is too senile to know that the unions hate McGlauglin and will come out hard against Padavan just to make a point.

Then again, given the campaign run by Ricky "El Clowno" Tabone, what would you expect.

Anyone know what is up with Semenrio ? Did that guy get indicted ? What about his sentence ?

Frank usually shows up to an event that I'll be up Monday - I'll ask him if/when he comes to shake my hand....

What a lowlife piece of slime!

He steals from little leagues, takes kickbacks from workers, steals from his union, steals from the state, rips off anyone he can and then rolls over on another assemblyman.

But yet his former union buddies and others say he is a fine guy who just lost his way.

McLaughlin is a walking turd who would do anything to anyone to enhance his own situation.

Screw him! May he rot in jail for his full term and get a six-foot- six four-hundred pound cellmate who finds him physically attractive.

I'm sorry.... your attacks on Padavan are ridiculous. The only one who has the guts to stand up for someone who did work hard for our community.

Padavan said absolutely nothing about McLaughlin's crime....

Mclaughlin did get things done for our communities.

Why not just leave this sad story in the courts.

Anonymous said...

yeah okay thats a great argument. Frank was the only won to stand up for someone who did something for our community. The guy who stole $3,000,000.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahah

Ok Frank thats a good one. Good luck when thats on TV.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Maybe you should have taken the Como job Frank.

Where was the Dem press conference denouncing McLaughlin and kicking him out of the party?

I hope Liz Crowley is taking baking lessons so she can slip a file in that cake when she visits Brian in prison. That's the only way he's getting out, unless he squeals on the machine.
