Pizza Nazi freaks out on ex

Queens Eagle

A hotheaded Rockaway pizza shop owner known for his customer’s-always-wrong attitude is facing criminal charges after Queens prosecutors say he damaged an ex-girlfriend’s window while screaming outside her home last month.

Whitney Aycock, owner of Whit’s End on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment for allegedly cracking the casing around his ex’s window late at night Jan. 27. He was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court Thursday morning.

According to a criminal complaint, Aycock arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s home, “repeatedly yelled at her and hit her window, causing the casing of said window to break.”

He also allegedly reached through the window and “ripped open the curtains,” the complaint continues. He is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief in addition to the harassment rap.

The arrest is the latest legal problem for Aycock, whose abrasive customer relations earned him the nickname “Pizza Nazi” — a nod to Seinfeld’s “Soup Nazi.”

He was previously arrested in 2017 for cutting a hole in the wall of his old restaurant and stealing an oven. He was also busted for growing weed at his Rockaway home in 2016.

The guy must think he's Brando in Streetcar.

He also got kicked out of Riis Park too

CUNY cop killed in shootout with NYPD

 NY Post

Two Queens cops were shot Tuesday by a CUNY peace officer — who had his guns taken away in a previous domestic dispute, only to have them returned to him weeks ago, police said.

One of the officers was left bleeding heavily from a wound to his right upper thigh, while the other was shot in both hands — both suffering “very serious injuries,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a press conference.

The pair were wounded during an exchange of gunfire that erupted as soon as 41-year-old suspect Rondell Goppy walked through the door of his Springfield Gardens home with his gun blazing amid a domestic dispute around 12:45 p.m., Shea said.

Minutes earlier, the officers — identified by law-enforcement sources as Christopher Wells and Joseph Murphy — had escorted Goppy’s 41-year-old wife back to the troubled couple’s apartment at 145-86 179th St.

The wife was getting her things so she could stay somewhere else after a violent incident between the pair in the morning over alleged infidelity, police said.

“The wife walked into the 105th Precinct this morning. She said her husband choked her,’’ a law-enforcement source told The Post. “The domestic-violence officers went back with her to the house to get some stuff.”

It appears that Goppy wasn’t still in the home at the time. The cops and woman were then inside for about 6 minutes when “almost instantly, [Goppy] walks in through the front door and starts shooting at our two officers,” Shea said.

Goppy blasted away in “a combat stance” before he was shot multiple times and killed — and his wife ended up notifying police that two of their own were struck by bullets when she called 911 to report the gunfire, sources said.

How brainwashed is the Queens press?

So remember a couple of years ago when reporters announced with glee that crime decreased after the Pan Am opened, relying on bogus stats from the NYPD and the DHS to make it look like there was hysteria over nothing?

Then came the problems that couldn't be hidden. One by one the reports piled up.

DHS' response? That a racial incident was perpetrated against an unnamed Pan Am shelter kid by unnamed assailants of a local school. No arrests were ever made, and the NYPD and DOE were never notified of the incident, yet it was reported as fact, because local journalists don't think DHS has a reason to lie.

Now the shit is really hitting the fan, as real journalists, like citywide reporters Courtney Gross of NY1 (5-part series) and Greg Smith of the Daily News (5-part series), absolutely rip the de Blasio administration apart over their mishandling of shelter problem.

When a community reports major problems with a shelter, maybe it's best that the local reporters take them seriously.

Please do your jobs and stop being shills for the mayor.

Hiram's gal to drop lawsuit

From the Daily News:

The Queens beauty slashed in the face by ex-state Sen. Hiram Monserrate is moving on — she has a new baby and is poised to drop her lawsuit against the city claiming cops made her falsely accuse the disgraced politician attacked her in a jealous rage.

Karla Giraldo appeared in Brooklyn Federal Court after parting ways with the lawyer who filed the bizarre suit in 2010.

Giraldo was dumped by the lawyer who is owed $73,500, and complained to a Brooklyn judge that no one else wants to take the case.

Meaningless legislation of the month

From the Daily News:

After the beating death of 3-year-old Jeida Torres in a Brooklyn shelter, a City Councilwoman is introducing legislation requiring homeless families to be shown a video and given information about domestic violence before being admitted to a city shelter.

Under the bill, sponsored by Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, the Department of Homeless Services would have to show videos and distribute brochures on both intimate partner violence and child abuse.

Shelter residents must be schooled on “what behavior will not be tolerated,” while victims will be more likely to realize they can seek help, Crowley said.

People come from far and wide to our shelters

From the Daily News:

For Avora Williams, it hasn’t been easy seeking a safe haven in public housing to escape the physical abuse she says she suffered from her son’s father.

Williams and three other frustrated domestic violence victims appeared at an emotional City Council hearing Tuesday begging NYCHA for help.

The number of domestic violence crimes at NYCHA has more than doubled from 809 in 2009 to 1,642 last year. That’s compared with a 25% spike citywide. The NYPD says the steady rise in domestic violence was a key factor in the alarming 31% spike in major crime at city Housing Authority developments over the past five years.

The Public Housing Committee hearing on Tuesday focused on bureaucratic obstacles domestic violence survivors often face in seeking a coveted NYCHA apartment.

Williams, who’s raising her son while working full time, has come up short in her quest for adequate documentation to qualify.

Two years ago she got a protective order after several violent confrontations with her son’s father in Maine. After she moved to Pennsylvania, she says the harassment continued.

In July she moved to a city shelter for homeless families but says she’ll have to move out come New Year’s Eve. NYCHA says she doesn’t qualify because she needs to more adequately document the abuse.

Another domestic violence survivor, whose name was withheld, said she was an undocumented immigrant, and, therefore, didn’t qualify for NYCHA’s priority housing.

“I applied for NYCHA and I was denied because I did not have the documentation,” she said, bursting into tears. “I think if NYCHA made it easier to apply we wouldn’t be in these domestic violence situations for so long.”

So homeless shelters are full of people who aren't from here? I suppose maybe a residency requirement would help stop the gravy train and bring down the numbers of homeless seeking NYCHA placement, but we all know that no one has the backbone in our legislatures to make that happen.

Another shelter for 11385

From the Times Ledger:

As Glendale and Middle Village gathered last week to assess their strategy for stopping plans to build a homeless shelter on Cooper Avenue, word of a second proposed facility in Ridgewood spread.

State Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach) said Providence House, a Brooklyn based non-profit assisting women and children in need, wanted to shelter homeless women and children in the convent of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal.

The legislator said he had not been able to deduce how many people the group intended to house in the 62-81 60th Place building and whether the project was a charitable church initiative or a city-aligned proposal.

“Supposedly there is a proposal to go in there. There’s space in the rectory there and so it would be to address women in need of placement while victims of domestic violence,” Addabbo said. “These sites are anonymous because they do not want the abuser finding out where the victim is.”

Our Lady of Miraculous Medal and Providence House did not respond to requests for comment.

The Archdiocese Diocese of Brooklyn, which oversees Catholic churches in Brooklyn and Queens, said it does not comment on lease agreements, but noted that many churches opt to rent property for programs assisting the homeless.

The city Department of Homeless Services did not respond to inquiries about whether it was involved in the Ridgewood negotiations.

(The Times Newsweekly reported that the women would be ex-cons with children looking to transition back into society, not domestic violence victims. And it's not the rectory, it's the convent. The nuns were shuttled off to St. Pancras.)

Samaritan Village lacking in samaritans

Good day,

My name is Elischia Fludd. I became homeless in October 2013 as a result of Domestic Violence. Eventually, I settled at Van Siclen Women's Shelter located in East New York, Brooklyn, zip code 11207. It is run by Samaritan Village Inc, a place that was recently in the news for being investigated for "missing" 1.1 million dollars. I am divulging where I am because at this point, it is a necessity.

There are many things that are violating about becoming homeless, including how the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) and individual shelter administration treats us as a population. I can speak about many angles, but the most poignant at this time for me is related to my disabilities.

I've declined in health for a number of years, to the point where it was prompted by my doctor to apply to Social Security Disability (SSD). I have conditions that render it hard for me to walk on a daily basis, and that is with pain medication that has been increased over time. I even have been dubbed as "homebound" by the Human Resources Administration (HRA) until August when they will review my status again, as well as have been granted a scooter to use as a medical necessity by my insurance and team of specialists.

At Van Siclen, as per DHS rules, dorms are not accessible Monday-Friday between 9am to 5pm. In order to have access to the dorm, you have to have what is called a bed pass. Since arriving on 22 Oct 2013, I had been getting bed passes to cover me every day Mon-Fri up until March, when I was suddenly denied. I've tried to work with DHS and Van Siclen Social Services Director to no avail. I had gotten a pass re-instated after providing additional documentation to update that my situation had not changed in regards to needing access to the dorm, until the last week in May.

In May, I was suddenly denied again, no explanation. I was then told that my doctor's note was not specific. So, I provided another one. Today, I was told by the Social Services Director a bunch of things, including what I think is an admission to discriminatory practices.

I have been taping conversations I've been having for a while and I also have emails that proves that DHS was aware of what's happening as well as the Coalition for the Homeless.

Kindly review the tape of Ms. Simone Ross, Director of Social Services that is attached. Ms. Ross and I had a tense conversation where she was in my opinion disrespectful and admits to an abuse of power. I now have bed passes daily, only for a limited time where I'm supposed to be kicked out of the dorm. The only portion that is not on tape is when I had just stopped it; Ms. Ross says "THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT FOR ME!" as she laughs at me.

This injustice must stop, this is more than a personal issue, but a policy one as well. I just happen to be one of the ones that fights back. Hard.

Wow, after listening to that tape, it's hard to believe that someone like that would be hired to provide sensitive services to the public.

Samaritan Village is the same entity that wants to open homeless shelters in Glendale and elsewhere. Their shelters are notorious for their poor conditions. Yet they get contract after contract with the City. Why? Here's who they gave money to: DeBlasio, Katz and Stringer, among others. -- QC

Hostel's joke names fall flat

From DNA Info:

The Plaza Hotel has the Eloise Suite and the Oak Room. A new pop-up hostel in Rockaway Beach let guests relax after a day in the sun on the "Ike Turner Bed" in the "Wife-Beater Bungalow."

The recently opened Hostile Hostel featured rooms and beds named after gangsters, drug users and domestic abusers, with a website depicting images of machine guns and planes dropping bombs.

But the room names were yanked after DNAinfo inquired about them on Wednesday, with the "Whore House" becoming "The Dorm." The descriptions of the rooms were also pulled from the website, but the bed names remain.

Offering beds named for Chris Brown, Ike Turner and Mel Gibson, the hostel had a shared kitchen space called the "Domestic Violence Bungalow," which advised guests to "get yo spatulas out."

The name of the space was changed on the hostel's website on Wednesday to the "Wife Beater Bungalow" and later to simply "The Kitchen."

Danny Ruscillo, a community leader who works with the 100th Precinct Community Council, said the names were "outrageous."

"This is not a joke, and it's not funny. We're not laughing," he said. "We have enough problems in Rockaway, and we don't need that kind of nonsense."

Does she ever listen to herself?

From Forest Hills Patch:

City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, D-Middle Village, lashed out at Republican Bob Turner of Forest Hills Thursday, slamming him for voting for a “watered-down” version of the Violence Against Women Act.

The bill, which was up for renewal this year, originally included new protections for same-sex couples in abusive relationships and a confidentiality clause that protected women who called the police in cases of domestic violence.

The version that passed the house on Wednesday had those provisions stripped out.

“Yesterday, you and your Republican colleagues in the House of Representative rolled back protections for women who are victims of domestic abuse, and your decision puts the safety of half of your constituents — including myself — at risk,” Crowley wrote.

Half of her constituents including herself? So, all women in NY-9 are currently getting the crap beaten out of them and she's in one of those violent relationships? Did they let McLaughlin out of prison without our knowledge?

BTW, this is why she thinks she's qualified to run for the seat and why you should vote for her:

City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley (D-Middle Village) touted her life experience as to why she is the best candidate for the new Queens congressional seat in a sitdown with the TimesLedger Newspapers last week.

Crowley was the 14th out of 15 children in a close-knit western Queens family, worked as a restorative art painter and was the first woman elected to her western Queens Council district.

Goldsmith resigned after getting arrested

From the NY Post:

The blizzard didn't bury him -- roughing up his wife did.

Former Deputy Mayor Stephen Goldsmith -- who drew sharp criticism for bungling the Christmas storm that shut down the city -- actually resigned in disgrace after his wife, fearing for her life, had him arrested during an argument turned violent, The Post has learned.

Just days before he suddenly stepped down as Mayor Bloomberg's chief of operations, Goldsmith was arrested at his Georgetown home after his wife, Margaret, told cops he smashed a phone and grabbed her as she desperately tried to call cops, a Washington, DC, police report reveals.

He lives in DC but was deputy mayor of NY? How did he pull this off?

Mayhem on the parkway

From the Daily News:

The Buildings Department's top enforcer came to the rescue of a woman being beaten by her deranged husband on a Queens highway Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner Eugene Corcoran was driving by as Ameer Khairullah, 54, attacked his wife, Bebe, and commandeered her SUV on the Grand Central Parkway in Jamaica Hills about 7:30 a.m. officials said.

"He punched the wife, dragged her out of the vehicle," said a police source. "And the car rolls over her leg and breaks it."

Corcoran stopped his Ford Explorer in the center lane and hopped out. Khairullah's 2000 Toyota 4Runner then rear-ended Corcoran's vehicle.

"That sent him flying over the guardrail," Buildings Department spokesman Tony Sclafani said. Corcoran, hired in May as the agency's head of enforcement, wasn't down long. "He gets up, walks toward the vehicle and confronts the suspect and subdues him," Sclafani said.

A former U.S. marshal, Corcoran pinned Khairullah to the ground while Firefighter Edward Tucker pulled up to lend a hand.

Tucker - who completes training today to become a fire marshal - handed Corcoran a pair of cuffs until cops arrived, FDNY spokesman Steve Ritea said.

Queens bloody crime roundup

From the Daily News:

In Queens, a gunman leaned out the window of a speeding black sedan at 2:30 a.m. and unleashed more than a dozen shots, hitting three people stepping out of a house party, police said.

"The shots were really loud," said a resident of 167th St. in Jamaica. "It woke me up - continuous shots, probably about 20."

Daniel Guthrie, 19, was killed and two fellow revelers - one 21, the other 29 - were wounded.

Neither survivor was cooperating with police, cops said.

From Eyewitness News:

Police say a hammer wielding husband brutally beat his wife to within an inch of her life in the East Elmhurst section of Queens.

The man attacked during a dispute inside their home on Ditmars Boulevard just after 4:30 a.m. this morning, according to cops.

His wife was brutally beaten and rushed to Elmhurst Medical Center in extremely critical condition.

The husband was placed under arrest and charged with assault.

A bloody hammer was recovered at the scene.

Sunnyside murderer pleads guilty

From the Times Ledger:

A Woodside man facing charges in the brutal murder of former NYPD Crime Lab Technician Michelle Lee, 24, of Sunnyside, and the attempted cover-up of the killing, pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree manslaughter and three counts of tampering with evidence.

Gary McGurk, 24, of 48-56 58th Place in Woodside, was Lee’s former boyfriend. He previously denied killing her, even to his attorneys, but accepted a plea deal to serve a maximum of 37 years in prison, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

A DA spokesman said the Lee’s family, who was in court Thursday when McGurk pleaded guilty, was satisfied with the length of the sentence because of the guarantee of McGurk’s conviction.

Lee’s roommate returned home to their 41st St. Sunnyside apartment on April 27 of last year to find Lee’s naked body tied to her bed with the cord from a cell phone charger. She had been beaten and stabbed in the throat, and had burn marks from an iron on her torso, according to the DA.

McGurk admitted not only to killing Lee, but also to altering the crime scene and making calls to himself from Lee’s cell phone to cover his tracks. Investigators determined McGurk and Lee dated and had an on-again off-again sexual relationship prior to her murder, the DA said.

Body dumped in Springfield Gardens traced to Bay Ridge

Cemetery 'dump' bust, NY Post
By JOHN DOYLE

A failed Brooklyn ice-cream-shop owner strangled his longtime girlfriend with an extension cord, then dumped her body in a Queens cemetery, authorities said yesterday.

Muhammad Iqbal, 45, a Moroccan immigrant, allegedly killed Khadija Mahel, 44, on April 13 in their Bay Ridge apartment, then hid her body under the bed for 29 hours before leaving it at Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.

Iqbal was charged with second-degree murder yesterday, said Queens DA Richard Brown.

Pols want Dave to go

From 1010WINS:

Calls for Gov. David Paterson to abandon his election bid mounted Thursday as the state attorney general announced he would investigate whether the administration or state police committed a crime in talking to a woman who had filed a domestic violence report against a top aide to the governor.

Paterson's top criminal justice Cabinet member resigned Thursday over the burgeoning scandal, saying conduct by the state police was "distressing" for an administration that has devoted itself to reducing domestic violence.

Elected officials and other candidates for office clamored for Paterson to end his campaign, formally launched just five days ago, as the turmoil mushroomed around longtime adviser David Johnson. A police report detailed in The New York Times discusses a confrontation between Johnson and a woman over her Halloween costume.

The New York Times reported Wednesday on court papers showing a phone call between state police and the woman. Paterson's office acknowledges he talked to the woman but says she placed the call, and a spokesman for the governor denied anyone tried to keep the woman from pursuing a domestic violence case.

The state police said in a news release that they won't comment on any aspect of the case during the investigation by the office of Andrew Cuomo, the popular attorney general whom many would like to see run as the Democratic candidate for governor instead of Paterson.

The Paterson administration asked Cuomo's office to investigate the matter, and the attorney general's office said it would look into whether crimes or other wrongdoing were committed. The state police said Cuomo asked the agency not to open its own internal probe.

So here's the big Paterson bombshell...

From the NY Times:

David W. Johnson has worked for Gov. David A. Paterson for much of his adult life. He began as a young, ambitious intern from Harlem when Mr. Paterson was a state legislator. He rose to be Mr. Paterson’s driver, serving as a kind of protector and scheduler.

In recent months, however, Mr. Johnson’s ascent has been striking: he is now one of the most senior people in the governor’s administration, paid $132,000. He is described as Mr. Paterson’s closest confidant, a man with a designated room for his overnight stays in the Executive Mansion, and a broadening role in areas like campaign strategy, government initiatives and the management of the governor’s staff.

A review of Mr. Johnson’s rise and his history, undertaken after he emerged as perhaps the man closest to the state’s chief executive, shows that he was twice arrested on felony drug charges as a teenager, including a charge of selling cocaine to an undercover officer in Harlem.

The examination of his background, based on interviews and records, shows he has at least one other arrest, for misdemeanor assault in the 1990s, although there is very little publicly available about that case.

Mr. Johnson, 37, has also on three occasions been involved in altercations with women, two of which led to calls to the police. As recently as October, the police responded to a complaint of harassment at a Bronx address of a woman involved with him. It is unclear if the altercation was verbal or physical or both, but the case is listed as closed.

If they wanted to reveal something really dirty, they should look into the Aqueduct deal.

The next to go?

From Gothamist:

Apparently, things got downright nasty during yesterday's heated Senate debate over whether to expel glass-slashing Senator Hiram Monserrate. Brooklyn's own Kevin Parker, one of the eight senators who voted against expelling a fellow lawmaker because he assaulted his girlfriend, almost started throwing punches to prove his point. The episode began with Parker "yelling and cursing" at Senator Diane Savino during last night's closed-door Democratic conference, a source tells Elizabeth Benjamin at the Daily News. When the salty talk didn't get his message across, he reportedly charged at her! "We're not going to do anything with the Republicans! F*#! the Republicans!" shouted Parker, who was indicted for assaulting a photographer last year. Luckily for Savino, Senator Jeff Klein sacked up to defend her. Then Parker reportedly asked him: "You want a piece of me?" Klein shot back: "If that's what it takes to stop this, then yes."

Toby wants Hiram out

From the Queens Courier:

Expel Senator Monserrate
BY STATE SENATOR TOBY ANN STAVISKY

When I was appointed to the Select Committee to investigate the facts surrounding Senator Hiram Monserrate’s conduct the night of December 19, 2008, I promised to keep an open mind. After countless hours of reading testimony, watching presentations and videotapes, and attending meetings, I am convinced that the inquiry was thorough, transparent, fair and bipartisan.

After a careful review of the information presented to the Committee, I came to the conclusion that his behavior merited severe sanctions. I repeatedly watched the surveillance video of his building which showed him dragging Ms. Giraldo through the halls. The assault on Ms. Giraldo was clearly one of domestic violence. We must enforce our “zero tolerance” policy concerning domestic violence.

Senator Monserrate failed to cooperate with the Committee. His supporters gave conflicting, inconsistent versions of events. In what seemed to be more concern about his political future than his victim’s well being, he chose to drive her to a distant hospital, Long Island Jewish, instead of Elmhurst – a five minute walk. He failed to accept any semblance of responsibility for his actions and the harm he caused.

I believe Senator Monserrate has violated the public’s trust and damaged the integrity of the Senate. While I am willing to listen to any information Senator Monserrate provides, he has failed to respond substantively to the content of our report. In fact, his only response was the threat of a lawsuit. Accordingly, I am prepared to vote for his expulsion from the Senate.

Toby Ann Stavisky represents the 16th Senate District in Queens.
