Liquor license expedited for Council party

From the NY Post:

They pulled the strings so the bartenders could pull the taps.

The City Council booked its holiday party at a swanky new bar that still needed a liquor license — so they just called in a favor for a rush permit to get the beer flowing, sources told The Post.

Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito agreed to have Wednesday night’s party at Barleycorn Craft Bar & Grill, which is owned by the pal of top staffer Steve Feder.

But after the invitations had already gone out, the council learned that the Park Place watering hole was still awaiting a license from the State Liquor Authority, the sources said.

That’s when they turned to First Deputy Chief of Staff Ramon Martinez, who is known as “the fixer” for his ability to solve problems. Feder asked Martinez at a senior leadership meeting to pressure the SLA — and state officials gave the bar its license just hours before the party started.

An SLA spokesman denied doing any favors for the council and said it simply issued a permit that was applied for in April.

So let me get this straight...they had a party, which was paid for by taxpayers, at a bar owned by someone connected to the Speaker's staff, and then pulled strings to get their booze permit approved?

And then there's this: "Barleycorn didn’t even have a menu on Wednesday night because the kitchen isn’t ready."

Is Melissa getting a kickback? Why not just move it to a different location?

Perhaps the Argento's should reach out to Feder for their Knockdown Center liquor license.
The council could have their next party their and Dizzy Lizzy Crowley could host.

Love how they can tweak the laws to fit their needs. The average citizen doesn't have that option. That's communism for you. The government controls and the people be damned.

So which council member was the designated driver?

Anonymous #2, why not acquire the writing and grammar skills of an eight-grader before criticizing others, including an elected city official?

Anonymous #3, are you serious?

If I lowered my writing and grammar skills to the level you suggest I'd still be grades above you intellectual capacity.

Where do they get off throwing parties for themselves on the taxpayers' dime?

Is there absolutely no accountability in NYC?

Absolutely. NO ACCOUNTABILITY. They get to party on YOUR DIME.

if there was any more confirmation about these phonies.sure they are concerned about the desperate and poor, the kind bleeding heart liberals that they are and want what's best for us

which is why they think that they can abuse their authority to get something "fixed" so they can have cocktails.they assume that their base won't care or notice because they are acknowledging their needs.

but with this stunt, the only constituency they answer to are the faux liberal sect of the hipsters and faux liberal yuppies(Yupsters?),where everyday is a party and you can afford to do liberating things at the expense of the hard working people who keep the city moving.

as for the argento comment, you think they give a shit about formalities like licenses and fire codes?or the road and commuting hazards they cause when they treat this city like a film studio with their trailers, catering and cables?they are defacto officials with city hall cred along with rev. al

how long will the people wait for the chickens to come to roost for these alcoholics in city hall.if anything they put a target on ramon martinez, who I believe gets his inspiration from this person>>>

No, you were attacked for going after how others write and spell. That you didn't understand that speaks to your intelligence. That you yourself posted gibberish just now is hilarious.
