Libraries will be open longer

From the Daily News:

Queens Library branches will stay open later after the busy system, which serves more than 11 million customers a year, rejiggers its hours next year.

Branches will either open earlier at 10 a.m. or remain open later until 8 p.m. for at least two days a week, starting Jan. 5, 2015.

The library is pushing for a funding increase to keep all the branches open six days a week, officials said.

I would settle for the Kew Gardens Hills library to reopen. It's been closed well over a year for renovation. All that's been done, to the passing eye, is to tear out the front of the building. Workmen are very rarely seen, and it's usually ONE guy working alone. The Empire State building was built in something like 410 days. These jokers can't even get a decent start on renovation in well over a year. Pathetic!

If they can fire that asshole Galante, NOT give him severance, and hire an actual non-criminal person as a replacement, they should have a lot more money to spend on services.
I'm still amazed at what a douchebag he is......

Higher taxes next year?

Queens guy John Paulson gives $100 Million to Central Park.
Queens guy Donald Trump claims to be a billionaire.

Stewart Rahr, Carl Icahn, etc. are other billionaires who hail from Queens. The new library chief should appeal to their charitable side for library support in order to keep the buildings open and staffed SEVEN days a week.

Open Longer? How about open at all???

There are brances that arent even open at all on the weekends.

Glad they'll be open longer. The library provides a great babysitting service once the kids get out of school. Parents are working longer hours, so their kids have someplace to go. Next they'll extend the school day to include Saturdays.

The Queens libraries are TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL! They're filled with screaming foreign children and apparently librarians are no longer required or allowed to tell them to STFU!

I run in and run out - Auburndale especially sucks! Those kids are animals!

It's nice that our new neighbors have taxpayer-funded after-school daycare for their all-too-numerous spawn!
