Keepin' it classy in LIC!

From 27th Street in Long Island City. Good luck, pedestrians!

What's wrong with a sidewalk "shelter"?

Someone hit the developer with an obstruction fine. These blatant violations are getting ridiculous.

Its LIC who cares right? Dump your crap anywhere.

There is no sense of community in LIC.

Once the Democratic Party's target demographics start to walk the streets and begin to trickle into the buildings the hipsters will leave in a heartbeat.

Only thing stopping that from happening now are the new projects still going up, the construction loans getting satisfied, and the campaign donors go home with their money.

No plastic bags around the mattresses? Bedbugs escaping into the streets.

I dont understand why people dump these things. i mean, sanitation comes and picks them up from the front of your door, for free.

Seems like it takes more effort to load into a vehicle, drive somewhere, unload, then go home.

Ok, now I understand why Queens is the number 1 tourist spot!

Disgusting! I try very hard to understand the mentality behind dragging (or driving) mattresses to another location. Sanitation picks up mattresses from residences on bulk day. Of course, the mattresses have to be wrapped in plastic. Are people seriously too cheap or lazy to go to their local 99cent store and purchase a plastic mattress cover? In any case, all locals have to do is call this in to 311; I have calling 311 when people dump in my neighborhood, and the response is great- they usually pick it up within a day.

Hipsters getting chased out by "Democrat's target demographic?" Not likely! Recent history has shown the reverse is true. The old white ethnics of NYC would never have dreamt to move back into Williamsburg, never mind Bushwick. These kids clearly don't mind living among the poor (at least until their money pushes the locals out.)

BTW, have you noticed who most of the suspects in the police assaults from the Garner protests are?
