Galante gone

From the Queens Chronicle:

The Board of Trustees of the Queens Library voted unanimously on Wednesday night to oust embattled CEO Tom Galante for cause. The board approved a resolution following an executive session of more than two hours at the library's Jamaica central office.

Attorney Dan Kurtz was in the session.

Galante has been under fire for more than a year since a series of reports in three Daily News led to investigations by city agencies and the FBI, who are probing the library's and Galante spending of the library's funds.

He's suing.

Kicking him out only when the board get some bad press; how convenient. Like none of them had any idea about the private junkets, the rooftop smoking deck, luxury car, expensive memorabilia...

Every year the audit came back from the accountant not one of those bums even looked at an expense report?

Give me a !@#$ing break. The whole board should be replaced.

And how much of a severance is he taking with him. Is he giving anything back? Will he go to jail?

"True, but those eight were Galante supporters."

The point being, the other members should have gotten a whiff of the shit from the libraries financial statements and the garish spending. Someone shoulda blown the whistle anonymously at least instead of looking the other way.

I would think that one or more of the "good" Trustees were the ones who tipped off Juan Gonzalez of the Daily News, who was the first to break the story of Galante's spending, and has stayed right on the story since then.

And where does Jimmy VanBramer fit into this whole picture?

Jimmy Van Bramer worked for the library during the Galante administration and did not blow the whistle. Why not?
