Helen spends big bucks at borough hall

From the Daily News:

When it comes to spending taxpayer money on office furniture, nobody touches Queens Borough President Helen Marshall.

Last fiscal year, she dropped $103,000, far more than any of her peers. Most of that - $82,500 - paid for 200 office chairs at about $400 a chair.

Four high back "guest chairs" cost $2,936, refurbishing Marshall's desk and cabinet cost another $5,000, and custom drapes installed on 12 oversized windows cost another $4,985. Other decorative charges include $4,994 for picture frames and $2,208 for a backdrop banner.

And here's more on wasteful spending by BPs and an editorial against them.

Dump that dim witted Marshal and that's the cheapest burro hall redux you can do!

"Marshall's spokesman, Dan Andrews, blamed the city's procurement rules, claiming the rules make them buy furniture only through approved vendors." That's bullshit!!

Get rid of these people.

$4,994 for PICTURE FRAMES!!! What the??? We shouldn't just run Marshall out of Borough Hall, we should run her out of the whole damn borough!!!

Nice picture of her tweeding.

Helen and her buddy, Karen Cowthatshits are useless. They need all those fancy chairs to rest their big booty. A Glass atrium for 20 million Dollars so people who want to get married won't get wet?, or to create a Glass Hall so Helen Marshall & Big Red could have fundraisers for her Cronies. They are real CLASS minus the CL.

ISN'T SHE THE ONE THAT CAME IN SEVERAL YEARS BACK AND PULLED THE DOMAIN CRAP TO HAVE PS 58 BUILT??
SHE'S A REAL PIECE OF WORK, NO RESPECT FOR THE COMMUNITY AT ALL. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY SPEND MONEY LIKE THIS WHEN PEOPLE ARE LOSING WORK AND THE PRESIDENT IS ALL ABOUT CUTTING BACK. SHAME ON YOU HELEN MARSHALL AND SHE SHOULD RETIRE, HOW OLD IS SHE, HAS TO OVER 70 BY NOW.

Whose money is fat cat Helen Marshall spending on the restoration of the "New York Panorama" at the Queens Museum of Art? As revealed recently by the "Daily News," her derriere is enthroned in a brand new $400.00+ chair while the sewage system of 75Place between Eliot Avenue and Juniper Boulevard North in Middle Village lingers unrepaired. The street, with its ever-widening cracks, has not been repaved IN MORE THAN 30 YEARS despite repeated requests for repair to the community board and similar Wintertime work in Middle Village. There's ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for her office's excessive expenditures when I live on a block waiting for a gas and/or water main waiting to explode (like the last time) due to Helen Marshall's seemingly deliberate negligence regarding the upgrading of one Middle Village block's vital systems.

i guess it's because it's not forest hills. sorry to hear your having so many issues in middle village. hey community board do your damn job already and stop sitting there doing nothing.

I agree with Mr. Parchin wholeheartdly. His block emits a foul stench in the Summertime. After any appreciable amount of rain, you can NEVER cross the south side of Eliot Avenue and 75 Place because the intersection is ALWAYS backed-up and flooded. The catch basins ALWAYS overflow with stagnant water and disease-breeding mosquitoes. The standing water's stench is unbelievable. It's a perfect breeding ground for West Nile Disease. I feel very sorry for children and dogs on that block. Helen Marshall should be taken to task for not redressing 75th Place's long-standing problem IMMEDIATELY.

I was walking my dog Bunny past there last year after it rained. The swarms of mosquitoes were SO BAD that I walked back toward Juniper Valley Park and out of my way to get home to Caldwell Avenue. The smell was unbelievable. Bunny and I don't cross the street there anymnore. God only knows what the hell is in the sewers there.

Isn't the southern end of 75 Place sinking again like it did in the 1960s? I remember when the three houses there were condemned by the City and demolished. I went to high school with Lenny Musso's kids. The family had to move to 78 Street by the park. And then some jerk built on the property. Idiot.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, it's been sinking for the last 15 years.

Anonymous said...

And stinking.

You'd think Marshall would do something about it. Enuf people have complained to her, Giordano and Gallagher (all useless). Maybe Crowley will do something.

Anonymous said...

Gary Giordano? Full of promises.
Nothing happens. Like Gallagher, he sunk lots of money into Juniper Park, another sinkhole.

So right.

And Marshall is planning to spend $20 million for a glass enclosure/addition to Borough Hall? Is this woman for real? I'm all for transparency. But this is ridiculous!!!

Anonymous said...

How old is she?
Cut the old sap in half and count the tree rings. Her administration has Dutch Elm Disease.

It's more like root rot!!!

Has Marshall done anything for crime in Middle Village? No. The candy store on 82 Street and Eliot Avenue has been robbed FIVE times in the last 18 months through its roof. Has she helped? No. Has she gotten more police assigned here when the properties are graffitied at 12:00 Midnight? No. Get rid of her. She's useless.

She should learn from the Marshall Plan. But she's not that intelligent.

A real loser!!!

Like Ognibene and Gallagher, Helen Marshall is a joke.

Today at a luncheon for St. Patrick's Day (Tuesday) she said thank god it's Friday and ended with Happy Thanksgiving. I kid you not.

To the Shadow...Great Post but I think you got her name wrong. It's Karen Cow-slo-wits!

I never would have thought borough presidents still had power until I saw all 27 of you people bitching about it. You only legitimize the borough cheerleader by bringing attention to anything she does! Congrats.

I'm glad someone posted about today's luncheon. I heard her say Happy Thanksgiving too, but I thought I was crazy. Glad to know she's the one losing it, not me.
