Because hotels are what's lacking in LIC

The hotel development boom in Long Island City is not limited to Dutch Kills, though it certainly is concentrated in Queens Plaza. But never fear Vernon/Jackson, we are on the hoteliers’ radars as well. It looks like a couple of adjacent parcels on 50th & 49th Aves between Vernon & 5th St are going to be transformed into a hotel...

Vernon/Jackson to get a hotel; rezoning battles on in Dutch Kills

Excuse my comment in this different post:
Looks like Astoria logues is a well controlled machine and people speaking about politics, especially criticizing the radical Zionist jewish invasion in 1947\48, eradicating over 420 Palestinian villages is not really talked about there. You know it was called Deir Yassin when the Urgun\stern radical right Jewish military squad shot hundreds of unarmed Palestinan's and making people refugees who didnt know their country was being secretly invaded and taken.Refugees in their own country?Strange. The British Balflour declaration promised a two state, not ethnic cleansing, but the radical zionists didnt follow British orders to not displace people or massacre them as in Deir Yassin. These radical elements are hidden from most new settlers except the hard right orthodox movement who are as nasty as far right Muslims. The NY Times even reported how orthodox jewish men attacked Jewish women for being on the same bus as them daring to show there ankles or just be on the same bus as women which happens often. New settlers come everyday and soilders use catepillar bulldozers to wipe Palestinians homes out removing them to the street illegally. That might alienate Palestinians, especially when half there family was killed unarmed during the Nabka in 1948.
No even though the tone is lowered sometimes here, Queens Crap is still a free speech zone unlike cute new blog\neighborhood gossip sites.Astoriaians and Astoria logue is a sanitized toy site.

Perhaps it wasn't welcome there because the topics are supposed to be about Astoria. At Astorians, you got censored when you dared talk about Astoria in a negative light.

Oh like that doesn't happen here. LOL

I really don't give a shit if you talk about Astoria in a negative light; be my guest.

If the real info in Astoria ever gets out, the community would explode.

The community board, the newspaper, the civics, the blog are all under the control of the clubhouse.

All who think otherwise are dispirited.

That community has no future.

Who here has been thrown off astorains.com because they simply expressed an opinion?

Anonymous said...

I did.

Me too. They tried to public humilate me and threw me into something called the 'black hole.'

We had a club that was making noise and I tried to post about it.

Their little clique made fun of me and finally locked my thread.

We were complaining about the sewage plant backing up. The freakin moderators were telling everyone the smells were natural and that the community had no plant.

they purposely tried to mislead the community.

I felt like I was at a community board meeting.

I dont waste my time there and the traffic is way off from last year.

Where is the Doorman?

Oh, yes, talking about Banks and Hunger.

Well, that is what you get when you live in a one party state.

The party serves ITS interests, NOT YOURS!

I watch astorians.com but don't post because they don't really seem to speak for our community.

The things they talk about are stupid.

They don't really sound like people that have lived here long.

Astorians.com really impresses me with its completely user-based content. Why do you have to hate?

Because of the filter, the censorship, and the playgound pack mentality.

When they lift banning people we will let up on them.

The ball is in their court

There have been SEVERAL discussions started on the topic, and I never once saw the moderators say it was natural, in fact most of the people on there were complaining that the smells have been worse in recent years due to the "repairs" being done. Just about everyone that lives near the plant had a complaint and expressed it, and was not filtered by moderators.

ah, dear astorian, the days in which paterfamilia says something is so, and it is so because their statement makes it so, are rapidly drawing to a close, even in poor benighted backward astroia.

your moderators have a habit of letting punks gang up on people that you disagree with, poking fun at people that say anything negative, and outright misleading the community with wrong information.

yes, at least one mod insisted that the plant is in another boro, and the smell was natural.

by letting the first statement tells us the mods either dont know astoria, or they are misleading.

open up censorship, let people back on, or get bashed again and again and again.

your call boyz.

No it was in a section on politics in that region of the world and the view was narrow.

Anonymous said...

Yes, I remember that thread. The mods did not say the plant was in another borough, but stood idly by when person after person said it was.

Speaking of sewer smells that happens where im at almost 4 times a week later in the evening in Astoria and its from street sewer back up or the plant. That can be dangerous when strong enough. Its very real astorians and other delusional folks.
Not only more people, but willfully ignorant.Where does all the foodie intake go to?Where do we get our electricity? How does this clean water get down state to us ungrateful new people??

remember the astorians.com threads on the greek church bells that ring for several hundred times a day starting at 7 am?

or how the greek community that doesn't live in astoria anymore take up all the spots on 30 ave with noisy cafe after cafe that doesnt serve the community?

or the illegal hooka smoking that panders to the arabs?

all these were legitimate points that the moderators at astorians.com, in clear violation to their own rules, let people be made fun of just for raising them.

a real community website. for the community board.

It seems like Astorians.com is afraid of their own community.

Why?

What are they hiding?
