We'll try something different today. DOB never seems to see the same things that we see when we call in complaints. Take a look at the photo and let us know how many safety violations you see. (Click photo for larger version.)

Your right , there are plenty of safety violations. Don't bother to wait for the DOB, just call the fire Dept , they will respond quicker and be able to stop the work going on as soon as they arrive which will be in minutes. Be pro-active and make the call, just don't photograph it and complain, make the call. If you see something say something.
At first my thought was that roofers always trot about on rooftops ...
but, yes, viewers noted the open sidewalk ...lack of scaffolding to prevent falling objects from hitting pedestrians... does the dumpster have a DOT permit?
This is interesting... let's see some more comments!!
Building inspectors and citizens concerned about unsafe construction practices in their neighborhood... simply busybodies getting into everyone's business! Tell that to yourself the next time a brick falls off a building without scaffolding and kills someone.
I love seeing that they're installing a new roof on top of the existing one. Isn't it that you're aalowed three layers of shingles before you have to stip it all down?
"I see no violations, just one busybody with a lot of free time on his hands."
There's always a moron. A rule of the Blogs.
The moron is either: 1. the building owner; 2. the contractor; 3. a DOB "inspector"; 4. Commissar Death and Taxes
The other moron is the one on the roof, on the right, carrying that plywood board. A good gust of wind would dump him into the East River. He could then swim down to the Rio Grande to cross back to his home.
Italicized passages and many of the photos come from other websites. The links to these websites are provided within the posts.
Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. Theres not any fedders, small balconies, and too much yellow tape on the house by the excellent intersection.
I see at least 8 OSHA violations - no safety harnesses, no hard hats etc
Yea, but the absent landlord got the contractor cheap.
How about failure to safeguard pedestrians? Don't they need a scaffold or at least a permit to close the sidewalk?
What do you say when you call the FDNY? Won't you just be transferred to 311?

The old shingles are probably asbestos, that why there covering them with wood, instead of simply building on top of them.

I see another violation - no skilled American union workers, ANYWHERE.
Oh well, who needs skill when we have Made In China.
Viva la Melamine!
