A 23-year-old Queens man was shot dead today in a push-in robbery at his basement apartment, police said.

Up to three men crashed the flat shortly before 1 a.m., firing two bullets into the neck and leg of the unidentified victim, cops said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene on 147th St. in Rosedale.

The homeowner, identified as Thelma Williams, who runs a transport company called Montego Van Service, had subdivided the basement, neighbors said.

She was not available for comment.

There was a lot of "activity" at the home, with cars often double- and triple-parked on the street outside, said one neighbor, who declined to give his name.

Investigators found drug paraphernalia in the apartment, police source said.

Police were investigating whether suspects set out to shoot the young man, or if he was the victim of a botched robbery. No arrests were made.

Where were the police - didn't they notice the triple-parked cars while on their patrols - or are they under-staffed (non-existent)in Rosedale? Sub-divided basement? I guess in polite terms this means illegal dewelling? The proliferation of illegal conversions in Queens creates a double density of people that is a powder keg set to explode - enforce the building laws to minimize the explosion of crime that is beginning to bust out everywhere.
