Meatloaf cones?

Hi Crappy...

I'd just like to say that I have enjoyed your blog and check in almost daily for more then a year now, thanks for the great work and effort, its nice to find good things to read on the net stands, and you're in that 'hood.

Anyway, I carry my digital with me, and on a rainy night a few days back I was traveling west on 53rd Street and stopped at the light on 6th Ave. Of course, a food cart was there about 9pm, but what caught my eye was the van parked curbside right behind the cart. Between the cart and van was the operator selling his crap. The van door was open, and I spied the vendor getting out. I noticed the shape of the merchandise and how it was in a pool of black filth! I got sick and took a quick photo before moving on. Here it is, feel free to use it and whatever I said if you like.

Thanks again for your effort and work.

- Howard

The culinary possibilities in this city being endless, you may follow your dirty meatloaf cones with some pies 'n' thighs under the Williamsburg Bridge.

How about heading out to Amish country this weekend for some pure food to clean out our systems?

Anyone who eats from those carts is insane.

That wasn't black filth; it was street sauce.

It improves the flavor by overwhelming the taste of rot.

Next time you barbecue at your house, try it.

This does not look kosher

"This does not look kosher"

That's because it's Halal.

I was wondering what Gyro Meatloaf Cones could be. I'm guessing it's the gyro meat that is placed on the turning spit, ready to be sliced off. I don't know if I would venture to taste this food cart, but I prefer the just-sliced off gyro meat as opposed to those pre-fabricated gyro strips. The pre-fabricated stuff is the Fedders special of gyro meat!

How dare you point out unsanitary conditions in a food cart run by one of our sainted immigrant groups! You should be ashamed of yourselves!

I'm with you, Crappy. When does the bus to Lancaster County leave?

Those meatloaf cones are horrible, but as someone from Lancaster County, you're kidding yourself if you think the Amish are hygienic and somehow offer a more edenic and purified version of food. The NYC DOH would shut down your hypothetical Amish dining establishment in a second (if those even existed--the Amish don't typically run restaurants...) Also, I'm not sure of why you are hating on Pies N' Thighs, that's the sort of entrepreneurial business that Queens Crap is supposed to champion. Typical case of blogger's syndrome--snark and sarcasm overtake all rational thought.

According to the post:

a) DOH is shutting Pies n Thighs down
b) The inside looks dirty
c) servers touching food without gloves
d) Blogger's sydrome=common sense

Hello Crappers !

I took the picture in this post, what always comes to mind when I pass this corner, where it and 55th street off 6th are the ground zero for this good stuff, IS many times over the NY media and Bloomberg boast in their crappings about how NYC HAS THE BEST EATS AND A GREAT DEAL OF IT IS FOUND ( no pun ) ON THE CITY'S VERY STREETS....!!!

So I took a picture of what I always see, waiting behind a long line of customers of mixed background, hipsters, taxi drivers and tourists, waiting to shell out 5 bucks and up for the NYC eats!

Well, I could only add that as Crappy pointed out the gloves are bit always on...heck, that's nothing....

All one has to do is take a look around at the cart and it's working space, and you will see all sorts of bad things....take your pick, the menu for dirt is there as long as the food inspectors are blind! and to me they're blind!

An outside point these guys make big greedy bucks selling 100's of orders a day, that's good clean US cash...I BET they pay nay taxes too...GO Bloomie! BIG H.

Not to mention the smoke from those carts. On 34th between 5th and 6th the smoke was so intense one day, some people had to breathe through their handkerchiefs (and it made my eyes water).

Hey Crapper. Speaking of gloves ("servers touching food without gloves")

What's the story with the pizza man? They pound the dough with bare hands, drop mozzarella with bare hands and then handle money! After which the bare hands go right back into the dough.

I've eaten this stuff for years - several times a week sometimes - and I haven't gotten sick yet. It's all in your minds, pansies. Pull up your skirt and eat the street meat! The only $5 lunch in Manhattan!
