Are we not the melting pot we imagined?

This dizzyingly diverse corner of Queens is an urban showcase for the varieties of religious experience, where traditions brought over by Asian immigrants coexist alongside those of Catholics, Jews and mainline Protestants. ... Mr. Walters was equally struck by how many of them were barely aware of what their neighbors were doing.

For a Master Class on Global Worship, It’s Destination Queens

“People are living in the same community, but within little sections of their own,” he said. “I find it very strange. I think it further solidifies their insecurities. Are you integrated into American society? Are you really part of the whole process?”

You know it's funny you should post this. My friend and I were remarking just the other day that it seems like you have to be an immigrant these days in order to be considered hip. Being born and raised in this country, city and borough is looked down upon nowadays. Notice how Christians and Jews (old school religions) are always attacked in the media, and celebrities flock to eastern religions.

I'm currently in the midst of the legal process of finalizing the conversion of my home (which I can no longer afford to pay the real estate taxes on ) into a religious not for profit organization so that I can also avail myself of the luxury of NOT PAYING ANY TAXES anymore (like the rest of the 45"churches" within one particular small neighborhood in Flushing) !

Isn't that's what its all about ?

If you can't beat 'em......join 'em !

I'll be off the tax rolls next year and still be able to comfortably live in (and afford) my home !

As one Flushing resident said,
"Flushing isn't a melting pot.....it's a melting wok" .

You may quickly pull the "racist" card from the deck , as I expect someone will, and call this resident a "bigot" but there is some truth in their observance.

Clannish, insular or isolationist behavior on the part of many of the new arrivals in this area doesn't make for the facilitation of cultural harmony in my book !

You do realize that intentionally defrauding the IRS is a felony. Not a misdemeanor, but a felony and you will go to prison. The others doing it have the option to flee the country if the heat comes down. Do you?

"Forest Hills 72"...you are obviously an uninformed and angry idiot for assuming that I'm intending to (or am) defrauding the IRS or any branch of US Government in any way!

My house will be LEGALLY transferred or donated (fully disclosed according to all city, state and federal statutes) , accordingly !

The rest of the private details are none of your f-----g business !

Now....BUZZ OFF !!!

You're the moron who comes onto a public board and brags about not paying your taxes.

So fine, you're smarter than the rest of us. You've figured out a way to cheat the government.

Man I hope they catch you though. You freeloading douchebag.

I believe the comments posted were facetious. Although defrauding the government does sound tempting, especially since they do it to us taxpayers all the time!

Gee....what intelligent "high caliber" usage "forest hills 72" !

"Moron".....and (I love it)....."douchebag"....how old are you anyway

"forest hills 72".....heh, heh, heh....I think you've been "had" !

"Anonymous #2" did such an excellent job with his sarcastic suggestion that everybody should get off the tax rolls....that YOU walked right into it !

A future suggestion for you..... if I may.......

If you mean to truly FIGHT over development (which I believe you and all of us want to)....you'd best maintain a COOLER HEAD !

The FIRST rule you learn in martial arts is NOT to be duped into wasting your strength in anger.
If you do, your opponent already has the UPPER HAND and you're bound to lose before you even get started !

However...good luck to you....in spite of it...... I like your fighting spirit (as witnessed many times on this blog) !
