Hey, maybe I'll move to southern Queens. There seem to be an awful lot of generous landlords there who offer free utilities & cable. One of the pads even comes with all the furnishings!

Since certain councilmembers are telling people to not allow the Dept. of Buildings into their homes to inspect these things, landlords and realtors feel the ability to thinly veil illegal apartments under the code words "utilities included," "furnished basement," and "separate entrance." It's blatant to us, but apparently not to the newspapers, politicians or Department of Buildings.
You have to take your car in every so often for inspection. Hospitals, workplaces and restaurants have to be inspected for health and safety. Why not make a law that houses have to be inspected every so often? Potential disasters would be found and corrected before any fatalities occur, and illegal occupancy would become a thing of the past.
A one party state. "All hail to fearless leader." Candidates unopposed. Muzzeled press. People ignored. Public demonstrations scripted. Taxpayers money hijacked for someone else's interests.
These so called community newspapers like the Queens Tribune, Queens Chronicle and Queens Ledger will do anything for a buck. They take illegal advertising submitted by unscrupulous real estate firms. They're really an asset to the community. Thanks for exposing this QC.
I'll bet a lot of those sour faced landlords who hang around those Greek coffee shops all day in Astoria with cigars jutting out from their yaps, know a thing or two about illegal apartments....how to sneak them in and advertise them in the local rags!
Has anyone asked CB member and real estate expert George Dellis' opinion on illegal conversions lately?
Italicized passages and many of the photos come from other websites. The links to these websites are provided within the posts.
Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. They are not connected to this website and the opinions presented here do not necessarily represent the positions of these organizations.

There are civic leaders in that same area (Middle Village / Maspeth / Elmhurst) that are also telling people not to allow the DOB into their homes.
Lets become a secret police state. Who wants to be the head of the gastapo? Better yet why don't we become more like Iran?
Here's a better suggestion:

Anything I missed?

Oh I love it when you touch that soft nerve with those landlords who milk their community and endanger their tenants with those illegal apartments.
Do it again and again and again until they howl!!!!
