City streets will get a bit greener under Mayor Bloomberg's 2030 plan:

For the next 10 years, the city will plant 23,000 trees each year along city streets, to reach a goal of having a tree in "every single place where it is possible to plant a street tree," Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff said.

Planting trees are useless unless you start a public program at the community level dealing directly with the public.
Not at the community board level. I remember one fellow from Jackson Heights bragging that they got trees unexpectantly for a mall because a certain local community board 'did not want them.'
Plant a couple of "hanging trees" from which to truss up by the thumbs our various "do nothing" politicos and their appointees!
