Pandering Paper

Queens Crap needs a bottle of Pepto-Bismol after reading this week's Queens Courier. Check out this embarrassing political ad disguised as a story:

Political Strategies for the New Year

This is the only article in the paper posted in PDF form on their website. Gioia, Young, Monserrate and Markey must have paid extra to be featured in full color...

At least some of them mention overdevelopment as a problem. They failed to do anything about it for all the years they've been in office, but it's a priority for them now. Yeah, okay.

Political mediocrity grows like weeds in this borough as personified by Gioia and Markey. Make no mistake about it though. They're "sharpies" when it comes to pandering to their personal careers and leaving their constituency in the lurch!

Over development is only a problem in eastern Queens where all the boro hall hacks live.

This is true. Overdevelopment is looked upon as a "critical" situation in Northeast Queens and "tolerable" in other parts of the borough. There are, obviously, 2 sets of standards in operation here. For instance, a member of the Vallone family lives in my leafy green neighborhood (not the former or current NYC Councilmember, who's deficated on while pretending to help Astoria ..my old "hood"), as are the usual compliment of doctors, judges, lawyers and "Indian Chiefs". Why aren't they speaking out against overdevelopment in your areas? Why that's because their jobs depend upon silence! Also it's not heavily impacting where they personally live (just a few tear-downs) ! A reminder, no Queens neighborhood is immune from overdevelopment and the "old guard" had best wake up to this fact. Their "protected " enclave could vanish tomorrow.
