Edgardo's Dream House

Edgardo Alfonzo has had it rough lately. He was playing for the Mets AAA club last year after being released from the Blue Jays. Now the New York Times reports that he's leaving for good and trying to sell his recently renovated palace in Little Neck for $6.5 million:

On Middle-Class Streets, a Mansion Without the ‘Mc’

The website MLSLI.com has the listing detailing all the amenities.

You have to wonder, though, why NY Houses 4 Sale chose to announce, "Edgardo Alfonzo - Is moving out of Queens NY!" as if it's the best thing to happen to the borough since the '64 World's Fair. The weird thing is that he owned the place since 1999, but never lived in it.

Oh yes, and you beat me to it! I was going to e-mail on this one! This is definitely your contest winner "poster child" which deserves the : "CRAP-OLA-OF-THE-YEAR" award!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A piece of vociferous vomit! A real "bowl-hugger"!

This one deserves the place of honor in the "Land-O-Crap" theme park! Let's move it there. No, maybe we should just wait a bit, Queens is quickly developing into one, then Edgardo's house can just stay put and we can sell tickets to our borough! The city'll make a fortune!

Did Edgardo build this or buy it? And when? The listing says it was built in '06.

Regardless, it is a tasteless piece of shit and a reminder that no amount of fame or money can buy taste.

According to the article, Edgardo bought the house in 1999, and he and his family did extensive renovations on it through 2006, expecting to move into it. However, it wasn't to be.

Well, then, the broker is lying in the listing. How shocking!!!

It's a good thing Edgardo left the state. One of his team-mates might have bounced a ball off his head in an effort to knock some sense into him for building this thing! Maybe, a surgical air-strike, would be the only feasable way to remove this blot on the landscape! Relax, you vigilant boys at Homeland Security, this last comment was only in jest!

There was a lot of demolition going on that they did not receive any permits for. So, with a total of $3000.00 in pay-offs disguised as "fines," the building was allowed to continue.

I don't know what's worse sometimes, the Dept of Buildings, or the Environmental Control Board, which holds the hearings for the violations that the DOB writes up.

I will tell you what is worse...

How about the media that chooses to ignore everything but politicians press releases and developers sales brochures and public servants that betray the people's trust?

You need to see this house from the side. The front view does not show the enormous dimensions of this house- there is another section behind it which is twice the size of what is seen in this photo. Someone really needs to drive over there and shoot this baby from the left side! Original asking price was $8,000,000 on MLSLI.

By the way he still has not sold this home. It is still in the market for now $5.4 million. There is another genius though who is also now trying to sell a home in the same area for $3.4 million. OTher houses in the area go for under $2 mil.

I wonder if Edgardo needs a bailout.
