A craptacular apartment building grows in Rego Park
If this doesn't look familiar to readers of this blog, this is the corner where the Drake Theatre and Abbracciamento's Restaurant used to be on Woodhaven Blvd. and 63rd Drive.
This building went up pretty fast and it looks it. From this layman's view, this looks like modular structuring. Not sure it's affordable, judging from the Chase Bank banner there.
Regardless, this is one fugly building.

Could you be more precise about the location? I live in Rego Park and don't recognize that. Google maps never heard of that restaurant or that theater. It looks like it's on Queens Blvd but WHERE?
In an otherwise ugly building I guess the "Architects" decided it wasn't ugly enough and not enough of an eyesore, so it seems the put the central A/C on the balconies./.
I don't think the restaurant name is wrong. It used to be called Joe Abbraciamento's. I never go over that way anymore since it's mostly residential, big walk to the subway. But either way, yes, the structure is tacky and I'd never live in a thing like that
Haven't noticed it, drive up WH all the time to get things from Trader Joe's or Home Depot in Glendale. Guess I'm used to there already being similar structures on boulevards.
Agreed, it's pretty ugly. Why is boring but at least not hideous regular old brick facades no a thing anymore? Too much cost to use bricklayers?
I can't remember what this one down in Woodside by 69 ended up looking like on the outside but will take a look next time I'm drivin' past...
did I violate your safe space? Is it Crappy 2 or Crapper the Second? I don’t want to lose my job because of this oversight. Will I be mandated to attend a diversity training for all things Queens?
Italicized passages and many of the photos come from other websites. The links to these websites are provided within the posts.
Why your neighborhood is full of Queens Crap
"The difference between dishonest and honest graft: for dishonest graft one worked solely for one's own interests, while for honest graft one pursued the interests of one's party, one's state, and one's personal interests all together." - George Washington Plunkitt
The above organizations are recognized by Queens Crap as being beneficial to the city as a whole, by fighting to preserve the history and character of our neighborhoods. You're right anon. I got the restaurant name wrong with the one in Ozone Park and provided links and the intersection.
I left out the info because I wanted readers to guess. Oh well.
@anon i don't know how you don't know where that is if you live in rego park... and that's not queens blvd, it's woodhaven/63 ave.

This structure is on Woodhaven Boulevard across from Barosa's Restaurant
62-96 Woodhaven Blvd
Here is the page for the listings. Not so bad for condos.

Crapper Jr- you’re making these reader work too hard!
Last anon.
I thought it would be fun for readers to guess. I also found it hilarious that first anon used google maps and still got it wrong.
And don't call me Jr. Either the second or II is appropriate (wink emoji)
Look's OK
Mea Culpa Spawn of Crappy
Last anon.
Now, now.
I've seen a lot worse.
I've seen a lot worse. It really is the loss of the old theater and catering hall that hurt the worst.

I can live in Rego Park -- and I do! -- without hanging out at 63rd and Woodhaven! I'm not walking a beat.
The "Ersatz" Crapper? Crapper the Younger? Deputy Dawg?
(In any event JQ LLC you're doing a yeoman job!!! Excelsior!!! )

Fine Crap jr., have it your way.
It just reminds me of Howard Stern's Kurt Waldheim Jr.
Thanks George, greatly appreciated.
On second thought I don't like Crap jr. My handle is just fine thank you very much.
I have a feeling the original crapper will return. Doing this and my other blog (which I have been neglecting) is taxing.
