This is what democracy looks like

Photo is of CB11 meeting last night regarding the plan to upzone the corner of Northern Blvd and Douglaston Pkwy. CB11 voted unanimously to reject the proposal. The applicant's attorney fled the room before he was scheduled to speak.

I wish more people, like this, would get together on Election Day if they don’t like the way the city is being run. A one-party system only breeds corruption and tyranny when there are no checks and balances.

The rare exception in Queens.

You are damn right.............and this is what is happening in the White House right now to, no checks and balances on Trump and the Republicans.

this meeting was a joke... they didn't even let the property owners present their plan first... it just started right away with the public speaking out against a project they did not understand...every one based their opposition on a completely misleading flyer from the Douglaston Civic Association... complete mob

We had no checks amd balances when liberals rammed the UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACA down everyone's throats. What about checks and balances then?????

* PS - ACA is unconstitutional because it's a repugnant law to a free people that they shall be compelled to purchase a product. This despite the tortured logic of traitor (to the Constitution) Roberts.

The guy was a coward for running out. This incident only proves that, 'we the people' are the ones that determine our future.

Good, we do not need any upzoning anywhere in Queens. We need to be downzoning. There is no parking anymore and constant traffic everywhere.

We in Bayside don't want all those people from Flushing coming here and taking over our neighborhoods and turning our neighborhoods into Flushing. CB11 respects the community's wishes to keep all the riff raff from Flushing and other parts of this city OUT of CB11.

Great turnout from the community. But I hope they all know the CB's have no power to stop this. Their vote is only advisory. They need to start calling and writing Katz & Vallone every day, demanding they don't let the zoning change go thru. I heard the developer has had multiple variances here for years that he keeps renewing or expire/renew. Build what the variance says and get it over with pal!

No misinformed, ACA is not unconstitutional and the Republicans had MANY opportunities to repeal it, but did not because they had no plan for health insurance. AND when someone who does not have health insurance (which EVERYONE should have affordable health insurance) and they go to the emergency room, then those costs get passed on to the rest of us in higher healthcare costs. It is actually cheaper to have everyone insured. Hope you never have to deal with not having health insurance. Funny how you don't unload your crap on health insurance companies who have fucked over people along with many politicians as well. If it was up to the Republicans, it would be no health insurance and everyone fend for themselves. Amazing how many folks here are so unacknowledged on subjects and believe what their "leader" says without educating themselves on the subject. Having health insurance and good health care is NOT a partisan issue, it is a human being issue idiot. Keep drinking the stupid asshole koolaid while you HIDE behind your ANON mask asshole.

You can not require insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions unless you require all people to have insurance . You can not put unhealthy people on their own plan because that beats the purpose of insurance by balancing the risk with healthy people .

Don’t blame the Obama administration , blame people that don’t have insurance . Or , require people without insurance to sign a waiver that the can be left to die if they don’t pay up front .

"You are damn right.............and this is what is happening in the White House right now to, no checks and balances on Trump and the Republicans."

Hahahahaha, that's a good one.
Talk about twisted logic!
We have a Democrat here talking about no checks and balances on Trump, when it was the lack of checks and balances on Democrat overreach that elected him.
You have to be an imbecile to not realize how the Democrats get BILLIONS in free positive advertisement from the Liberal news media which donates something like 90% to Democrat candidates while reporting 90% negative on Trump and Republicans.

Furthermore, you have the vapid morons in Hollywood who all push Democrat and,
even more so the feckless "academics" who's can't do, but they sure can indoctrinate students into socialism.

Now, go back to your union bag of pablum and come up with another one we won't soon believe.

Harry Haller

p.s. getting back to the main point of this article,
blame yourselves for continuing to vote in Democrats in Queens.
There is another party that is winning on protecting our traditional values, that includes our neighborhoods! Yes, it's called the Republican party.
The one that's :
-against foreign hordes of people ramming their way into our nation to demand free stuff.
-against taxing you more on the money you produced with your labor.
-against redistributing your hard earned money for schemes to enrich citizens of other sovereign nations
-against destroying our American traditions (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness) in favor of retread, hack socialism which promises mediocrity for all and no toilet paper.
-against mayor's pushing their own hack socialism on the middle class by destroying their neighborhoods and having them deal with other people's poor life choices.

Trump is always brought up in your comments here. Why ?
Got news for you the "Blue" wave is toast.
The GOP will keep the House and win seats in the Senate.
Close youe eyes Joe and dream of Hillary that's all you got buddy.

Yeah, loud and clear from the community, but that won't stop a developer. Nice corner, but its months and years are likely numbered.

This was a mob, plain and simple. I welcome it. I look forward to more housing opportunities. I live a few blocks away with a few school age children and there will be a time when I want to downsize, but stay in the neighborhood. Much better than two empty lots. The dentist who owns the smaller lot is such a kind, lovely man, too.

Joe Moretti, do you speak Spanish? You need to when you'll have to tell the illegals to get in line when you're outside the Medicare-for-all hospital needing to get into the ER.

We in CB11 have more in common with Nassau County than with New York City. We should be the Town of Flushing in Nassau County and not a part of the City of New York. Nassau County would be better as it would stop those miscreants from ruining CB11 nabes. The Town of Flushing voted against being a part of this city in 1894.

Moretti, you should transfer out of your Archer Avenue school and learn how to write in the English language.

Nice try, Bill Driscoll. Too bad you and Steve Sinacori were such cowards on Monday night that you fled the meeting instead of presenting your OVERdevelopment proposal in the face of overwhelming opposition.

I have news for you: this isn't going to go away.

Did anybody see that garbage flyer from the DCA distributed. No wonder the large turnout at the meeting; it was completely misleading.

Does Sean Walsh have a conscience (and know how to spell!)?
