It is horrible driving on Northern Blvd from Main Street to Douglaston Parkway.
Something has to be done to protect people from all the sick drivers that are speeding and running red lights/stop signs.
Another Vision Zero farce. How the hell can the city's DOT keep adding all of these safety improvement projects without neglecting regular maintenance of all other DOT tasks? They are going to have to hire an army of workers to keep up at this rate.
The roads themselves haven't gotten more dangerous, it's the assholes who "drive" on them. A driver will just as soon kill a pedestrian as turn on the ignition. Vision Zero? How about zero disregard for driving rules. You see aggressive, reckless, texting/driving every single day. No legislation nor road adjustments will resolve. Just a camera on over corner to catch the bastards in their violations.
If people didn't jaywalk all day long they wouldn't get hit. But for some reason we never blame the pedestrians for the dumb shit they do all day long.
This is just an excuse to take one of the traffic lanes away and make it a protected bike lane no one will use, and take more parking away. The war on cars marches on in NYC under the guise of "pedestrian safety".
What are they talking about "Blvd Of Death" at least you can easily cross Northern
Queens blvd is 10X worse.
This is a bullshit Trojan to put in more money making speed and red light cameras.
BTW the new red light cameras get you if your not a certain distance from the intersection, 50 feet I think? . They are placing sensors in the roadways
This street is ugly and needs trees. That is why it is dangerous .
Right on Juile B !
Let's be sure to spend billions more on another 5,000 miles of strip malls on Northern Blvd filled with, pawn shops, tatoo parlors, nail salons and pet grooming businesses. What were those Greeks and Romans thinking?
>Just a camera on over corner to catch the bastards in their violations.
That's exactly what we need, endless government surveillance, and endless tickets. That'll save New York!
