Astoria getting more homeless

From NY1:

Despite community opposition, the state says it's moving ahead with a plan to build a housing complex for homeless people with mental illness in Astoria.

The people of Astoria .... that is a laugh. They are brought to the stage when it needs dressing with bodies to disguise the handlers in the background.

Its no secret that Junior's dad wants the Astoria peninsula ringed in 30 story buildings. That is 10,000 of people.

Services? Hahahahaha. There is one road into there - and commuting will be handled by a ferry.

The folks at the Astoria Houses are afraid about displacement more than this project.

Crappy, before doing another pro-Vallone piece -

Go over to Astorians.com where they bitch about the falling quality of life in Astoria,

or talk about how he is packing people in Astoria with no concern for the infrastructure while he keeps zoning low for his friends and neighbors along Tony Bennett Blvd?

What pro-Vallone pieces are you referring to? I can't fucking stand the guy.

It won't be in Peter Vallone's Astoria backyard....that's for sure.

Godfather Pietro will see to that.

H-m-m-m....now let's see where it will be dumped.

Watch out you Queens West & tower people.

Hipsters prepare to take flight.

Tsk, tsk, tsk....
all those poor yuppie investments down the crapper.

And the bus to Nebraska is such an arduous journey.

Check out Google Street view (2nd street and 27th avenue).

A bike lane runs right in front of this planned mental institution.

Well, people are always going to bitch about having housing for homeless, mentally ill (etc) - but these are human beings and they have to live SOMEWHERE.

But yes, this kind of housing SHOULD be equally divided into various income communities including wealthy ones, but then NYC is hardly much of a democracy these days, is it?

Before shooting your mouth off try Googling "shelters Manhattan".

Just a few blocks from me there is a large SRO recently renovated on 81st Street bet.3rd and 2nd.

There is a home for homeless mothers also newly renovated and large at 82nd bet, 2nd and 1st.

A shooting occurred at a homeless women's shelter on 45th bet 3rd and 2nd.

Compared to the other boroughs Queens is probably underrepresented when it comes to these facilities.

CB12 in Jamaica has about 2 dozen of them.
