Still Open and Unguarded - but more complete

Across the street from the site of the Maspeth church fire is this project at 66-52 & 66-54 58th Road that has been going on for years now.
Previously, there was a one-family house here. A developer purchased the property in 2006, subdivided the lot, and then proceeded to demolish the house and build 2 semi-attached ones. However, he only applied for a new building permit for one of them and the other he just applied for an alteration permit. This was previously featured on Queens Crap on December 5, 2007 under the title "Open and Unguarded."

And guess what? It still is. Only now it's suitable for squatting. The DOB also noted that it violates the zoning code. And there's no construction fence.

And assuming the developer actually did stop work back when he got the violation, then that means this has been on the sidewalk/in the street since sometime last year.

THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. THIS MAKES ME ANGRY. THE DOB HAS SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ENFORCEMENT, AND BECAUSE OF IT, WE SUFFER.

MAYOR BLOOMBERG AINT GONNA DO A THING. HOPEFULLY, WHOEVER RUNS AGAINST HIM MAKES THE OVERHAUL OF SOME OF THESE CITY AGENCIES A PRIORITY AND WILL DEFINATELY HAVE MY VOTE!

Bloomberg doesn't care about this. He only cares about what is happening in Manhattan, where he lives. The next mayor (not Bloomberg) needs to reorganize and revamp the Department of Buildings. He needs to then call in the Feds to audit the books of the city council and see who and how much money they were paid from developers. He then needs to ban these developers from receiving building permits. There is a glut of these ugly developments. No one can afford them, yet these developers keep building them. It has to stop. Our infrastructure can't take it anymore. Our quality of life is diminished because of this.

This thing should have burned down instead of the Church!
