Kim campaign signs torn down

From the Queens Tribune:

A Bayside man was caught on video tearing down campaign signs from a private construction site on Northern Boulevard – and admits to having torn signs down from the same site and others previously.

Richard Lazar ripped a full construction wall’s worth of signs down individually near midnight of June 11, and threw them over the construction wall. The site’s building manager filmed the act, and later Lazar’s erratic reaction on being caught. The footage culminated with Lazar threatening the cameraman with a broom, after he followed Lazar to his home and onto his property during their confrontation.

The entire construction wall was covered with signs for District 19 Democratic candidate Kevin Kim, the result of three hours of canvassing, said Justin Kang, the owner of the building who had previously posted Kim signs on his wall which were also torn down. The footage shows Lazar spending about 10 minutes tearing signs from the wall.

A Vallone campaign sign stood on Lazar’s lawn Friday, though he said the sign was put up by his daughter without his knowledge, and he has no stake in the race one way or another. He said he has since taken it down, and put it in the window.

“This is a community; we try to maintain it, keep the place neat,” Lazar said regarding his motivation to tear down the signs. “It is not a shanty-town. It makes the community look tacky.” He added that he didn’t mind when candidates put posters in store windows.

It reminds me of the time I went over to Queens Plaza, encircled it slowly and tore down about 25 "Vote for Mario Cuomo" signs that the Club House meticulously put up the day before. Then I slowly drove eastward on Queens Blvd. and did likewise. What a thrill that evening was! These were on public property. A Sanitation Dept. "no-no" Bill Driscoll and Mike Reich.

Campaign poster remover Richard Lazar said he didn’t mind when candidates put posters in store windows.

So, Lazar has appointed himself to be the controller of political communications?

Who is paying him?

My strong recommendation: vote for Kim.

People post their Yard sale and Band posters on my corner.
I tear them down also - it makes the street look cheap and tacky.
And it is against the law to places posters or notices on street lamps and trees.

You should post the video or at least a clip from it showing him in the act so his neighbors know who he is

"And it is against the law to places posters or notices on street lamps and trees."

These campaign signs were on private property (i.e., a construction fence), and were posted with the permission of the owner. It was no different than if the signs were posted in shop windows. This smells like a typical Vallone dirty trick. The guy just happened to have a Vallone sign on his lawn?

It is illegal to post signs on construction fences -- a DOB violation.

A quick and simple search on georgetheatheist reveals exactly how established a loser he actually is.

Years and years of commenting and blogging, all with the same ignorant and hateful zeal that we see here on Crapper these days.

My favorite thing, however, is the non political commentary that george often offers up. It seems that george is a big fan of posting on sexually themed youtube videos. He also appears to frequent Al Goldstein's (the "Porn King") blog and website and also has some choice commentary on a blog called "The Assimilated Negro."

Very very insightful material george!

You are a disgusting perverted racist, as your internet history clearly demonstrates.

Do us all a favor and stop posting on this civic-minded blog.

Sicko...

The Assimilated Negro is written by a black guy.

Hey Sherlock.

Goldstein's Blog is a hoot! Give it a read. But you're probably sexually repressed. (BTW check out Al Goldstein's latest post "Back on the streets...into the Gutter!" at www.algoldstein.com. I gave a "shout out" to the Crapperoos.)

An African-American lady friend, a descendant from the Ibo tribe - a former "squeeze" - recommended the Assimilated Negro.

The howling of the curs gets louder and louder, but no matter, the caravan rolls onward.

Even if it's done with the permission of the property owner? Didn't know that. However, that guy took the law into his own hands, probably for political reasons. Or maybe he's going to walk up and down Francis Lewis Blvd and pull down all of the Paul Vallone posters, too?

The fact that people still have the audacity to infringe on other peoples free speech rights is awful We need to respect the rights of our nation. I have met Kevin Kim on a few random occasions while he worked for Congressman Ackerman and have been really impressed by him. He is obviously a hard-worker. We shall see how he does.

Let's see how he does? Let's figure out "what he's done" for our community that qualifies him to even run.
