Dizzy Lizzy gets booed in church

"St. Adalbert holds its graduation ceremonies in their church. This year, Elizabeth Crowley attended as an alumna. When she was introduced as such during the ceremony, she was soundly booed. She looked around nervously like she didn't know what to do before taking her seat again." - anonymous

It is a shame that she was booed in church but it just shows that people are disaapointed in her and in her actions. Especially since she sold out Maspeth. She needs to stop making church a time for a photo op! When the people of Maspeth really needed her, she turn ger back on them. I doubt very nuch she would be running to a meeting about the H.S. they plan on building here. Just goes to show how her mind works. If it does'nt make her look good, she wont come. I say bye bye DIZZY LIZZY! We need someone who will fight for us and not bend to the system.

Maspeth Moms says...

What an editorial about Catholic people. So much for the forgiveness they preach at the altar. I can bet they would'nt have booed a child molesting priest. Where was the outrage about that!!! Church is a psych hospital for sinners.

Why do you think they wouldn't have booed a child molesting priest? Most Catholics would probably take him outside and string him up if they were given the opportunity. Why not express your disgust for pols who are no good and are Catholic in name but not deed? God smiled on them for doing it.

I Can't wait to see what "George the Atheist" has to say about this one.

Wasn't she one of Mc Laughlin's many "squeezes"?

Maybe they were booing the woman screwed by the man who screwed his constituents!

What's Phyllis Shafrin doing these days post Brian?

I've always found the most "devout", daily church-going nuts are usually the most selfish people I've ever known.

What's so inappropriate about announcing your lack of confidence in a politician's ability even in a church?

This is a place where truth reigns in the confessional booth (if it's a Catholic steeple house) and it's certainly good for the soul.

The day that Dizzy Lizzy set foot in a house of worship was the day it became a political, NOT RELIGIOUS, occasion!

Amen on that..."Italian girl".

My neighbor, a eucharistic lay-minister, is one the biggest hypocrites around!

Once again Maspeth Mom doesn't get it. Elizabeth Crowley is a disgrace. She got elected because of her name, nothing else. And in her first few months sold out our town of Maspeth, placing a large high school next to two other schools. She is the laughing stock of the city council.

There are MANY more great priests who do GREAT work in the community. To focus on a few bad apples reveals Maspeth Mom's agenda of Catholic bashing,

And the people I know that are supposedly so "holy" and follow all the Church's rules, did all kinds of unholy stuff when they were younger. Maybe they're trying to makeup for their sins.

It's never pleasant to be booed in your own church - this should have been foreseen by Lizzy. I have seen her at St. A's for years and if the incident left no question as to the position of her fellow parishioners, then this could only give her something to chew on for the future.

Yes she is disappointing and hope that she returns to reality and cognizant of her parishioners and neighbors issues.

I want to see Gallagher, Maltese, and Ognibene receive communion.

The Holy Trinity.

"It's never pleasant to be booed in your own church"

You think she actually goes to church?

First, let's not generalize. I know alot of good, caring and decent priests who would never violate their vows as some unfortunately have. I also know alot of regular church-goers, my own mother for one, who are sane, rational, well grounded, selfless and very humble. Just because there may be hypocrites among us, let's be careful not to paint with a broad brush. All of us belong to groups, religious, ethnic whatever, that could be blasted for the actions of a few.
Second, I believe this issue is more a political one than a religious one. We would all do well to keep this topic in its proper perspective.

Of course, if the allegations in this post are true.....In any event, there is a time and place for everything. Booing someone in church is a classless thing to do. Italian girl is right on the money.

Also the post about the holy trinty is also true. Ogni-has-been did get into deep trouble years ago. It costed him his judgeship.

Christina Wilkinson or whoever runs this appropriately titled Crap blog needs to get their facts straight, and find some integrity in the meantime. I was at the St. Adalbert's graduation and Liz was not booed by the Church - quite the opposite - she warmly received by St. Adalbert and the crowd was very thankful for her attendance. Furthermore, one of the nuns specifically thanked Liz for speaking and keeping her promise unlike many elected officials that have been invited to speak at their graduations.

I need to get my facts straight, eh? This tip was sent in by someone that was there and who told me they were actually embarrassed that it happened in a church. They also told me about the nun being nice to her. The nun invited her, so I certainly wouldn't expect her to be nasty to her. Why would my source make up the fact that Lizzy was booed? Face the fact that your sister is unpopular and that people realize how she sold out her community and will more than likely vote her ass out in November.

Once again, you need to get your facts straight. Liz stood up for her community with regards to the Maspeth School by voting against the Speaker's vote and voting against the proposal. In addition, she was the first council member to move the DOE and the SCA to allow for more time to discuss the proposal. Finally, while your boy Ognibene is focussed on a bogus lawsuit for the Maspeth school (when there was nothing illegal about the deal), Liz has more foresight by working with the DOE and the DOt to address the traffic issue as well as working with the DOE and the DEP to institute a policy that triggers remediation.

I suggest that you substitute these lyrics:

You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
The way you deal and dole
You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
When we see your payroll
Come on, Miss Lizzy
We watch as all your deals unfold

Come on, you're a diva
For your masters you pine
You make me dizzy, dizzy Lizzy
Oh girl, you're so out of line
Just a-rooking and a-crooking
Girl I say I wish you'd resign

You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
When you call me a name
Oooooh baby
Say you're driving me insane
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon baby
I think you need a brain

Run and tell your papa
I want you to confide
Run and tell your cousin
Baby, don't run and hide
You make me dizzy, Miss Lizzy
Girl I want to impeach you

Come on, you're a diva
For your masters you pine girl
You make me dizzy, dizzy Lizzy
Oh girl, you're out of line
Just a-rooking and a-crooking
Girl I said I wish you'd resign

B.S.:

"Liz stood up for her community with regards to the Maspeth School by voting against the Speaker's vote and voting against the proposal."

Fact:

Liz made a deal with Christine Quinn to vote no for the school in return for not lobbying other council members to do the same.

Yassky did the same thing with Dock Street. Your problem is that you think we are too stupid to understand that's how it works behind closed doors.

Truth does not reign in church. There is nothing truthful in or about the church, starting from its very origins and including the people who claim to be "good" christians, jews, muslims, Buddhists, whatever. Everyone uses their religion to justify whatever selfish, hurtful, even criminal behavior they engage in.

Queens Crapper said...

Which has nothing to do with why Crowley got booed.

wow, as much as i disagree with ms crowley on a lot of topics i was at the church graduation and yes she was booed by some, not the entire church. yes the sister gave her a great warm introduction and even stated she's the first to come forward and present an award(while in the past others were asked, but a no show). I kind of felt embarrassed for her. for liz now it's a photo opt to get out and about in the community,to be seen and try to salvage her rep... she did vote no to the school but she's also was trying so hard to get past as a local h.s.. when she didn't get her way she voted NO... i won't be voting for her come the new election I want someone who will stand behind us in MASPETH.

Perhaps her office looks so crappy 'cause she knows she has no chance to win.Who will ru against her.Ognibene was nearly arrested about 10 years ago, can't have him back in office.

Being booed in church is pretty bad. What's next, Excommunication? There is a time and a place for everything and disrupting church services or profaning a house of God with politics is pretty bad.

The parishioners should have picked another place to do this.

Anonymous said...

No, Dizzy Lizzy shouldn't have injected her politics into the church. Maybe next time before inviting her, the nuns will first ask her what her positions are on gay marriage, abortion and school vouchers.

Anonymous said...

I don't care for Crowley but this was bad form to boo her in church during graduation ceremonies.
As for her social positions, so you are saying that the school should be intolerant toward those who disagree and not invite them to its ceremonies? That would exclude a majority of people.

Anonymous said...

People send their kids to these schools in part because of the values taught there. So why would they invite someone who takes the anti-Catholic position on almost every issue?

Anonymous said...

"Who will ru(n) against her. Ognibene was nearly arrested about 10 years ago, can't have him back in office."

Nearly arrested? Gee that's interesting... good way to label someone...do you mean like Elizabeth Crowley's partner in crime, Brian McLaughlin, whoops he was arrested. And what about Liz having sexual relations with a married man?...err I should say men?

Liz Crowley cannot get down and dirty...she's been there for years.

Anonymous said...

I doubt most people send their kids to this school because of the Catholic positions on social issues. They send their children there because they believe the quality of the teaching is better than public schools.

Anonymous said...

They send their kids there to get a CATHOLIC education.

Anonymous said...

"...quality of the teaching is better than public schools."

Give me a FUCKING break! Excuse my language. Thank you for raising my blood pressure this morning.

Anonymous said...

Crowley tried to pick up a married friend of mine in a local bar.

Anonymous said...

If you refuse to have anyone at the school that disagrees with the Catholic Church's position on social issues, then you'll have to exclude a great majority of people.

Anonymous said...

Which has never been a problem for the Catholic church.

Anonymous said...

Ms. Italy, you don't think people spend thousands of dollars more a year to send their children to Catholic school because they believe the quality of the education is better?

georgetheatheist said...

For once I (sort of) agree with Italian "Girl".

I attended 12 years of Catholic schools and then taught for 6 years in the public school system -high school level.

The nuns in grammar school were top notch. However, a lot of my high school teachers were layabouts.

I heard Crowley spoke at the kindergarten graduation for PS 128 and no one booed her. I guess those rowdy Catholics at St. A's don't know how to behave.
