From City Hall:
The plan was simple: Comptroller Bill Thompson and Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión would link arms in a show of Democratic unity in 2009 and barnstorm across the five boroughs from campaign event to campaign event—or at least would team up in people’s minds, drawing African-American and Latino voters out together to sweep them both into office in the fall.
But it is not to be.
With hardly a wave goodbye, Carrión absconded to Washington to join the Obama administration, shattering the hopes for the fabled black-brown coalition that has forever eluded New York elections.
Wow. The news media and politicians love to portray Queens residents as Archie Bunkers. Have they ever listened to the way they speak or read what they've written? Do they believe that blacks and Latinos don't care about issues, but just blindly pull the lever for a person with dark skin? (Let's remember that Archie country overwhelmingly voted Obama last November...)

Sorry, Crappy, but like in the Old South 100 years ago, the Archie Bunker image is invented to keep a segment of our society voiceless and discredited.
One of the reasons the clubhouse ignores this slur on our borough.
When you hear the pols talk about race and ethnicity, they would put a Nazi eugenics scientist to shame.
Scandalous when you think about it. Crappy should revisit this time and again.
"Adolfo Carrion"
What a moniker: the late dictator + road kill.

Why is it if white politicians do this, it's considered crass and pandering to white racilism? But if a black or Latino politician does it, it's considered ethnic pride?

Damn, Crap is better than the Economist ... and its free!
"Archie" didn't even reflect Astoria accurately, let alone Queens. It was clearly filmed elsewhere, Astoria is 2-family homes, tiny brick one families and tenenments--not spacious one-family homes.
Archie was a "WASP", Astoria at the time was Italian, Greek, Czechoslovakian with a sprinkling of old-time Irish and Germans.
The only thing they got right was "blue collar," don't forget Lech Walesca, an electrician led the Solidarity movement in Poland that helped part the Iron Curtain. I hate how these bigots equate blue collar ethnic with stupid oaf.
