Learn how to deal with an elected official

“Working with your Elected Officials” Coffee Talk January 12: Limited Seats Available!
Monday Morning Coffee Talk, with Dirk McCall

Dirk McCall, Executive Director of the Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, former community board liaison to Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields and former chief of staff to Councilmember Alan Gerson (District 1), will address the process of working with local elected officials to garner support for community-driven campaigns. The combination of his past experience and his role at the Chamber of Commerce provide him with the ideal expertise to advise neighborhood advocates on how to facilitate meaningful and effective partnerships with elected representatives.

"I have great faith in Councilmember Vallone. I trust that if anything can be done, he'll do it."

It seems as if the preservation community has found the perfect rep for Astoria.

Who's next?

Isn't he one of the mods on astorians.com, the 'community website' that throws people off if the complain or (worse) attack local officals?

Who is this guy?
How did they select him?
What are his preservation credentials?

Yes, rise from your beds early to hear the thoughts of a moderator for Astorians.com who describes himself as an "overextended gay political hack".
Here are some words of wisdom from this great political mind:
"I have great faith in Councilmember Vallone. I trust that if anything can be done, he'll do it."
Well this sounds like it's worth losing a few hours pay for. Sign me up!

If, as we suspect, the playing field is not level, but set up so that the landmark communities get everything and everyone else gets the shaft then this is the perfect guy to represent Astoria.

Sort of like Jeff K and the Queensboro Preservation League, another fiction that supposedly represents Queens but in fact is a fiction.

I cannot think of a more suitable person to be selected by HDC. Dovetails with everything that has been written about the system on Queens Crap.

Thanks boys!

Will someone ask him about Vallone's hostility towards landmarking?

Onorato's sandbagging Sunnyside Gardens landmarking efforts?

Gianaris controversial stand on ignoring the impact that overdevelopment had on the blackout?

Maybe the Krappy Krew should show up?
