Local groups left out of gas pipeline talks
From Sheepshead Bites:
Activists faced off with officials at a Jamaica Bay Task Force meeting last week, saying the government is sidelining waterfront communities in order to quietly push through major projects, including a deal to bring a natural gas pipeline to Jamaica Bay.
The Rockaway/Gateway gas pipeline outraged locals due to the fact that Transco Williams — one of the largest interstate gas pipeline systems in the country — could destroy as much as 11,000 feet of the nearby marine environment during the installation, which would ultimately connect Brooklyn and Queens to a major gas artery off the coast. After quiet approval from the U.S. House of Representatives, the plans are heading to the Senate – and no one asked Jamaica Bay’s eco-guardians what they thought.

Pipelines carrying cheap natural gas will free us and reduce us from the dependency of expensive crude oil from Arab states and elsewhere.
Many more homes in NY metropolitan area will have access to gas vs electricity and home heating oil. In fact truck fleets across the country are being purchased or converted to natural gas which is plentiful and cheap. Get over it we need it, it's plentiful and cleaner to burn.
"After quiet approval from the U.S. House of Representatives"...huh?
How did Representative-Congressman Gary Ackerman vote?
Maybe he has friends in that pipeline company...just like he has friends in Xenonics.
We hear that Ackerman actually has a price list for his granting of favors and votes.
The solution to Queens' energy problems lie in tapping Joe Crowley's clubhouse gas bags.
Yo...here come da methane express!
No pipeline needed.
Waterfronts not located around Manhattan or Williamsburgh are getting the royal shaft. Here in Staten Island we have the raising of the Bayonne Bridge - a great idea, really - but no one has contacted the communities that practically under the bridge on either side (NJ or NY). There was no mention of schools or playgrounds in the immediate area. The Spectras Energy Pipeline avoided Environmental review. The Peruvian concrete terminal avoided environmental review. No Sen. Schmer is seeking to "expedite" the Bayonne Bridge project - we're getting screwed. It will get worse as heavy industrials are moved to create more luxury waterfront housing and waterfront playgrounds for the hipsters. If anyone says a word, they are labelled "job killers." Finally, these reviews would preclude the kind of "ram the project through," unconsidered development that causes such problems later. This has nothing to do with energy, it is simply doing the right thing. www.nsccej.org

Hey claptrap, I guess your the solar and wind sandals type & Al Gore supporter global warning - the ice bergs are melting!
Hey I am dying from paying 5.00 a gallon for heating oil for my home - - natural gas is so cheap - they burn it at the well because there is no pipeline to get it to market.
Yeah claptrap, your an Obama sucker who supports not building the Keystone pipeline from Canada because a couple deer get lost because of it. It sounds claptrap that soon you will be a deer in headlights when you finally realize your freezing to death and no gas to get to the hospital buy bus because the middle-east decides they are going to F**K us......get real Claptrap!!!!
LOL!
Once again an east coast redneck conservative with a low IQ blames everything on Obama.
I think he's actually got a hard-on for The President.

Yeah claptrap - you still live in your elderly Mother's basement at 53 yrs old? Still getting an Obama entitlement because you disabled yourself too often in the dark down there? Get a life by getting a job or move to Boston, Red.
I'm running against Senator Gillibrand..she has never talked about what legislation she would write towards a national energy policy which of course would include green energy..the politicrap talk about I support this and I support that has snowed so many Democrats. I am a registered Democrat, to the left of Bernie Sanders and get very little press because my student loan reform, anti-fracking, and actually wrote a jobs bill platform would be embarrassing to the Party. That's why I'm running as an Indepenedent. Send me pure money..no gas/oil/pharma/health care or bankers please.
