From the NY Times:
If the third section [of the High Line] is completed, it will end near the terminus of the extended No. 7 subway line, said Robert K. Steel, the deputy mayor for economic development. People could ride the subway from Queens, then walk the High Line through Chelsea to the meatpacking district, said Mr. Steel, who recently became a resident of Chelsea, just a block from the High Line.
So who along the 7 line in Queens is dying to do this? A show of hands, please...

Right!
I'm going to travel all the way to Manhattan to cruise for rich Chelsea art-fags along the High Line.
How appropriate for the old "meat" district.
I'll stick with the Brooklyn Heights promenade for that.
Maybe the Flushing River waterfront promenade walk will rival the High Line when it's eventually completed.
There's already a great pick up spot near the old World's Fair marina.
Wasn't Donald Manes found there in his car during his first suicide attempt?
Maybe "The Donald" wasn't so "Butch" as he appeared to be.
Maybe he went on that junket to Taiwan with Tommy Huang and CB#7 members to indulge in some of his favorite sexual treats.
Maybe there's some explicit video on some of those travelers that keeps them in the pocket of Asian developers unto this day.
Might M.B.H. be holding the DVDs?
LOL....a Flushing waterfront promenade?
RU kidding?
What will they call it....
the Stink Trail?
RE the oversexed Donald Manes:
Read "City For Sale" and learn some more.
It's all in there!
I still think the High Line should've been the western extension of the #7 and the city should've negotiated with CSX for that.

If I wanted to walk along old train tracks I'd stay in Queens. We got plenty.
Maybe those in Flushing found a new spot to hock spit.
I'm with Walsh.
You know what else you can do from Queens? Drive out to LI and shop without the tourists and morons.
Yep I am going to go to the flushing 7 train station, pay for delayed service, and while standing on the station try not to puke from the nauseating smell of the diverse community.
Then I am going to stand on the subway (because of course there are no seats ever available) ride shoulder to shoulder with a trainful of illegal immigrants from Corona's vibrant community, many of whom are coughing and sneezing all over, to then go to a park filled with yuppies that is really railroad tracks with a few plants.
The level of mental retardation is amazing. If we fixed up Queens parks like the high line people would have nice parks in Queens.
And lt us not forget how often the 7 train isn't running on the weekends.

Kevin is a guy with common sense - apparently folks in Manhattan (really from Iowa)do otherwise.
How about creating parks in Queens from abandoned rail spurs or are we going to re-purpose these long unused spurs to haul garbage through Queens from Long Island? You wouldn't do this on the highline right Mr Bloomberg?
It was already done once in Queens - that's why we have the Kissena Park corridor. Why not do it again?
well, this will make it much easier for the 4'6" Hispanic women to get to the high line to sell their churros.

AMEN
Well, make up your minds. All I see on these pages is Queens residents bitching and moaning about the asiafication of their neighborhoods. So now you can shop in Chelsea. You don't want to? Go shop in Nassau.
Yes because boutiques and haute couture is what Queens people want to shop for.
Allow me to be Captain Obvious:
It's all about getting subways into places where new offices and upscale housing can be developed
How about a High Line makeover for the LIRR Rockaway Branch?
