Martinez resigns over slush fund scandal

From the Daily News:

City Councilman Miguel Martinez resigned Monday as prosecutors revealed he's agreed to plead to federal charges after an extensive probe of a nonprofit group to which he steered more than $500,000.

The Manhattan U.S. attorney's filed notice a criminal information will accuse Martinez of a crime as early as Tuesday. It would be the first criminal charges against a Council member in the city slush fund scandal.

The notice doesn't disclose the charges, but indicates Martinez has agreed to plead guilty to the unspecified accusations.

I am in church praying they don't go after the Vallones. Imagine what would happen to their hairlines from the stress of a trial.

500,000 is he all siphoned to this nonprofit group, I am sure the Vallones steer more than that. When is it their turn to face the feds.

Nice to see government working- and crooks being given the boot.

Don't kid yourself about Tony though. They are all the same. He's got the "I'm just like you" shtick that is as old as dirt.

Take a look at campaign finance records and endorsements before blindly supporting someone. His money comes from the same scum.

If only he had run someone down with a car, attacked someone or jammed a bottle into a woman's eye, he'd still be in the game.
