From the Daily News:
A 28-year-old steelworker died Wednesday when he plummeted from a Manhattan luxury hotel tower that was under construction.
The worker, who lives in Staten Island, slipped and fell 10 stories, landing on a scaffolding just above a sidewalk bustling with mid-morning pedestrians.
No one else was injured.
Coworkers said the victim was not wearing a safety harness and that it was his first day working at the site.
"I think he was working out on the ledge on his own," said a worker, who asked not to be identified. "We're not really sure what happened. It's very sad."
And the construction company was hit with 8 DOB violations.

Only 1 death? Take a look at the building's records to see how many violations and how many were "dismissed"? With a little help from Benjamin.
The construction industry has become our New High Priests and every day they sacrifice a few new victims.
Signed, Lady whose ceiling was knocked down over her living room while she was out--they missed me!!!
I saw this yesterday on my way to work. Not surprised. How many violations? Oh. That times a couple of hundred other sites in the city add up to how many?
Corrupt! Corrupt! Corrupt!!
Please publicize the name of the company that allowed this worker to perish by not following appropriate safety protocols.
While were banning construction, we should ban driving cars first, cause its dangerous too.
Highway fatalities account for more than 94% of all transportation deaths. There were an estimated 6,289,000 car accidents in the US in 1999. There were about 3.4 million injuries and 41,611 people killed in auto accidents in 1999. The total number of people killed in highway crashes in 2001 was 42,116, compared to 41,945 in 2000. An average of 114 people die each day in car crashes in the U.S.
What was the citizenship status of the worker who was killed by failure to supervise (by the construction company), and failure to inspect by Commissar Death and Taxes corrupt money transfer agency, the DOB?
How many deaths caused by the Commissar's obsession with money from kickbacks?
A man can have but one master, he must love one, but hate the other, he cannot serve both God and money.
Let me know when the pagans in this christian nation stop offering human sacrifice to Moloch.
Maybe when we stop mouth pieties in American politics and start acting decently toward each other we will end the unnecessary slaughter of the poor and the workers and the looting of innocent people's bank accounts and taxes.
