1,000 vote difference apparently not convincing enough

From the Forum South:

For anyone wondering just how long it will take for Eric Ulrich to begin his role as the new Councilmember of the 32nd District, the answer seems to be still a couple of weeks away. Although preliminary counts show Ulrich as a clear victor, a re-canvassing of approximately 100 voting machines took place on Monday March 2 and was completed by Tuesday.

Ulrich’s closest opponent in the race, Democratic District Leader Lew Simon, who was behind in the original counts by roughly 1,000 votes, still has hopes that a recount will find him at the top of the heap. In fact a call to his office will transfer you by automated attendant to Mr. Simon, who has left behind the following recorded announcement: “I want to thank everyone who came out and voted. The election is still not over so please keep us in your prayers. The election is still not over.”

BOE's "mandatory" recanvassing drags out the inevitable and hurts the district by denying them representation.

Lew Simon has always reminded me of the guy who played Squiggy on "Laverne and Shirley".

Don't the Democrats believe that the winner must be supported?

Simon should be out there rooting for the success of Eric.

Whoops! I forgot that I always forget how the rules apply: The rules for wishing success to the winner apply only to winners in the Democrat party.

Sorry for thinking that the rule was based on a principle. How so rude of me!

It's not a party thing, Arch. It's a personal issue. Lew Simon is as shady and selfish as they come. So of course he's going to be obstructionist and hold the political process up. Don't broadbrush the party with this clown. He lost by 1,000 votes in an election where just about 7,000 people voted. It would be like a statewide election in which the losing candidate who lost by a million votes demanded a recount. This is ridiculous even for him.

And as for the Squiggy reference, that's an insult to a icon of classic television.

Actually Edith, it IS a party thing. It is not about Simon.

Obama's kool-aid drinkers are attacking those who refuse to blindly support his plans to destroy the nation with socialism and uncontrolled spending on "recovery".

And, it was the leftist, socialist Democrats who spent eight years incessantly attempting to destabilize the success of the Bush presidency. Simon likely agreed with them.

It is now a strategy of the leftist, Stalinist Democrats to question election outcomes, policies, character and even the families of Republican victors for the purpose of muddying the waters for the public's perception of those victories.

The success of the Bush Presidency?

President Obama's main task in his term office is undoing the damage done in eight years by The Worst President Ever.

And the Republicans aren't whining their heads off now?

Your friends and neighbors in the 32nd Council District who happen to be Democrats are neither Socialists nor Stalinists and not too many of them are leftists either. Probably a good portion of the votes the repugnant Simon did not get and which Ulrich got were from Democrats who supported Gulluscio or DiResto neither of whom is a Socialist nor a Stalinist nor anything close to the left wing of the Democratic Party.

Only you would link Lew Simon's ego to Obama. Now it's all part of the vast left-wing "socialist" conspiracy. Do you know how paranoid and crazy you sound?

No less paranoid than Hillary Clinton with her vast right wing conspiracy. And she became Secretary of State...
