That Niederstein's sign is still standing at Metropolitan Avenue and 70th Street and the ugly condos behind it are STILL under construction, almost a year after our last post about it: The crapping of Niederstein's: it ain't over yet!
Looks like a crapscape of balconies with ugly dividers will be facing Metro. Just more loveliness to gaze upon in MidVille.

Niederstein's may be gone, but can its historic sign be landmarked? If our city can preserve the Pepsi-Cola and Domino Sugar signs, why not Niederstein's sign?
That sign is not significant. It was in the parking lot across the street.
If Niederstein's was so important to you all, maybe you should have dined there and spent some money there every once in a while. The place was an empty money-loser for years, what do you expect?

The place was an empty money loser because the owners decided to let the place go. The food was simply bad. However, it was a significant legitimate historic site dating back to the 1850s and should have been landmarked. Whether a business is successful or not does not determine whether it is preserved. What doomed it was that it was in Queens.
I love the blaming of the neighborhood residents for the restaurant owner's poor business skills.
THE FOOD SUCKED THE NEIGHBORHOOD SUCKS AND IT IS GONE
CRY ME A RIVER AND I LOVE ARBYS ANYWAY
