Ridgewood: Where front doors are overrated

Why put a door on the front of the house? It's much better to have it on the side so you can have a garage wide enough to fit your Hummer instead. And garages are no longer used to store junk; that's now the job of balconies. The only surprising thing about this place is the lack of Fedders.

This is for sweatshop illegals, no need for Fedders. They need to sweat it out to condition themseleves for work.

Many homes have main entrances on the side. Why is that? It's so ugly. Why would anyone want their garage door to be the main focus of the house?

"This is for sweatshop illegals" No way. There's no way they could afford this. It's for us hot dog eating born in the USA citizens.

This is the type of place that old immigrants buy to rent out to the new (illegal) immigrants.

One of the nicest pair of homes on my parents block (north Flushing/Bowne park area) have their main entrances facing the VERY wide shared driveway which go back to detached houses. We are NOT talking new build here either, the houses are circa 100 years old

Of course, the FRONT of the houses aren't garages either - nice enclosed porches, overlooking the lawn, with the nice big trees
