Here we go again...

Congestion Pricing Plan Could Return Under New Name

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Congestion pricing may be back, but it might have a new name.

The plan was shot down, but it may have new life in Albany with support from Gov. David Paterson.

Paterson reportedly says Mayor Michael Bloomberg's plan was unique and well thought and could help solve the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's budget woes, which could mean fare and toll hikes and service cuts.

The plan would charge drivers a fee for entering the Central Business District of Manhattan between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays.

The Ravitch Commission, which was formed to look for new ways to fund the MTA, meets for the first time on Wednesday. The commission may give congestion pricing a new name because it caused so much controversy.

On this blog, we'll call it what it is. The congestion tax.

Its your own fault you lost out on the money, Mike. If you came up with a plan that didn't shit on non-manhattanites, it might have had enough support. But shitting on the common people is what you're all about, so at least you stuck to your principles. Congrats.

Time to let your "representatives" in Albany and here know that you will bounce them from office if this passes.

As Frank Lloyd says: It's a tax. Revenues from its collection will NEVER be spent on mass transit. NEVER!!!

Bet that this tax' revenue will be spent on the needed health care and welfare for illegal aliens.

Yeah, clogging up the streets, polluting the air, warming the globe, burning the oil we have to buy from terrorist and the states that love them and fight wars to protect, and massivly underfunding public transit - WOW, that's really worked out well. You car drivers have to realize that YOU ARE A PROBLEM. Now get over yourselves: if you don't like congestion pricing or taxing or whatever you want to call it, come up with a better idea.

The MTA is in trouble financially so now congestion pricing is back. Bull......

Bring back the commuter tax!

ANONYMOUS, I do agree with you - bring back the commuter tax. Let's have both. And while we're at it, how about completely reforming the MTA.

And remember election time who voted against the commuter tax. Michae Cohen and Audrey Pheiffer.

So, it's the
"Ravitch Commission"...eh?

He's a former head of the MTA and
I wouldn't give him the skin off a grape.

And Paterson is going to take his suggestions seriously or trust his judgment?

Man....our governor is really blind
(or blinded by his newly acquired political power)!

Well....scratch a politician and you'll soon find a beholding crook under his skin!
