GOP picks a real winner for CD30
Queens G.O.P. Endorses Como
A reader who attended the vote passed along a couple of highlights from the event. First was from Como’s nominating speech, made by Rick Metzger, husband of Gallagher’s chief of staff, Linda Metzger, who said that Como agreed to retain most of Dennis’ staff.
Strike 1 - Why would he want to retain that dead weight, especially those who were complicit in Gallagher's corruption?
In Como’s speech to the group, he did not mention Ognibene by name, but, according to the attendee, he did refer to “some old guy who hasn’t been around for 15 years."
Strike 2 - Ognibene has only been out of office for 7 years...
Como is the president of the board of elections.
Strike 3 - Sounds like a conflict of interest to me.
Exercises bad judgment, can't count, has no sense of decency and is building the blight on the neighborhood pictured? Como sounds like the perfect guy to replace Gallagher!
"In these times where voters' faith in their public officials has been shaken to the core given former Gov. [Eliot] Spitzer's corruption, Gov. [David] Paterson's disclosures and [Gallagher's] plea bargain, it is refreshing and reassuring to have someone of Anthony Como's sterling character, caliber and ability stand for office," Queens County Republican Party Chairman Phil Ragusa said.
God help council district 30!
