Liz Crowley disses gays

Last night, both Elizabeth Crowley and Charles Ober were invited to speak to the Stonewall Democratic Club in Manhattan. Only Ober, who is openly gay, showed up, and later earned the club's endorsement.

Democrats Act Like Republicans in Gallagher District

Club president Matthew Carlin said via email, "We invited both candidates to speak and seek our endorsement. I was told that Ms. Crowley knew we would be voting last night, but she neither attended the meeting, nor sent her regrets or an advocate. Mr. Ober gave a brief, but impressive, presentation and took a few questions." They endorsed him after a short discussion.

But the Queens Democratic establishment is largely uniting behind Crowley, who is related to the Queens County Democratic leader, Representative Joe Crowley.

According to the article, Crowley is endorsed by Congressman Joe Crowley (big surprise) and party animals Congressman Anthony Weiner, Assemblywoman Marge Markey, Assemblywoman Cathy Nolan, Councilman Eric Gioia, Councilman Joe Addabbo and Ed Koch. You have to wonder if they've actually met Liz and had a conversation with her...

Ummmm, hello, I'm a reasonably liberal democrat who does not yet support either Crowley or Ober. But is there anyone who doubts whom the radical Stonewall Club were going to back from the beginning? It is truly the equivalent of asking Sharpton and Barron to choose between a moderate white candidate and an activist black candidate. Give me a break.

Regardless, she should have showed up or at least replied. She has a sense of entitlement about her that is hard to stomach. "I'm a Crowley"

"You have to wonder if they've actually met Liz and had a conversation with her...", said QC.

They actually may have had several conversations with her and found her to be quite brilliant.

Exceptional intelligence is in the eyes of the beholder, ya know,

Crowley brilliant?

You betcha. Everyone I know that has talked to her considers her to be a 'bright lite.'

I am waiting for the cloyingly sickeningly drooling review of her qualifications by the local press.

A crappie flush to the first one out there who sees it and reports back to Crappie Central.

She dissed a gay guy?
Well I thought that the Queenscrapper and his cronies would love that.
Earning your votes everyday right?

When have I ever made fun of gays?

commenter #1, where do you get your information? The stonewall democratic club is not radical at all, there are 2 gay democratic clubs in nyc, GLID (gay and lesbian independent democrats) is the more left wing one, stonewall democrats are generally centrist, and have even endorsed a number of republicans over the years.

Queenscrapper,

When have you ever shown anything but contempt for anyone outside of your own demographic?

Did you not think it was obvious?

Ohh. Now we have a cyber reader who can detect the demographics of a person just by seeing a comment about, say, a violation of a building code, or, say, the stupid rants of a politician who gets caught (say, like Dizzy Lizzy) in another lie.

So, tell me, cyber reader, how was the demographic "obvious"? One or two factual, detailed responses will be good. Otherwise, get your head unstuck from your (or someone else') ass.

Is it me or do all the "main" candidates suck? It seems like we're going to be forced to replace Gallagher with another piece of shit. I'm curious to hear more of what Ober has to say. Forget Crowley, Ognibene, and Como as far as I'm concerned.

How do you know what my sexual orientation is?

We should educate Ognebene about diversity and return him to office. You are never too old to learn.

For some incredibly stupid reason, the president of Juniper Civic is backing Tom Ognibene. He should just stay out of it. No one is voting for that old man and it will come back to haunt Holden and crew when the real councilperson takes office. It also smacks of hypocrisy since they had Gallagher's victim speak at their last meeting and Ognibene went on NY1 and defended Gallagher! Now Ognibene is being invited to get involved in the St. Saviour's issue so he can put that in his campaign ads that Holden will no doubt design! Something smells really nasty in Middle Village!

As a matter of fact, I may be mistaken. I was not aware of they're centrist positions> it was a bad assumption on my part and I thank you for the civil, non abusive correction.

Queenscrapper,

Because there is not an openly gay man in this world who would be as stoicly conservative and biased as you.

Conservative and bias? - Amazing what people think they hear.

Whatever you do crappy - dont come out on this blog.
Your most loyal fans and biggest supporters would turn on you so fast that you wouldnt be able to say "civil union".

Thats the kind of people that YOU are appealing to.

And here I thought advocating for landmarking, preservation of neighborhood character, freedom of speech and expression and more green space (tree hugging) was kind of a liberal viewpoint. As for gay marriage, I believe in pursuit of happiness, and if this makes people happy, I say good for them. It doesn't affect my life any. I am more concerned with those pissing in my driveway, rifling through my trash, making noise at 3am and paving over my neighborhood with crap and concrete.

nobody here is ever going to be turning on Crappy, even if he confessed to being a serial killing cannibal. Constantly fighting battles for our borough, he's become something of a patron saint for us all.

Dizzy Lizzy is a closeted Lezzy.

Read the last post and ask yourself if you are sure about that statement. That is the caliber of most on this blog that I am referring to.

Let's inform Benedict that we want St. Crappy of Queens.

Maybe you wrote this to prove your own point. Amazing what people will do under cloak of anonymity.
