Verizon's illegal signs

Hey, that's a street tree pit you're using for advertising, Verizon.
And it's not even in front of your Grand Avenue store, like your illegal A-frame sign is, but in front of McDonald's down the street. What cojones you have. Looks like I'll have to put in a call to 311 so they can fine your eyesore-creating ass.

If your life so empty and miserable that this bothers you? I feel sab for you.

Just take it down yourself.

I do it all the time to the polluters that leave them by the side of the road.

Or if you're feeling uppity, take a photo, bring it to your copmmunity board, and have them report it to Sanitation. I believe it's a fine.

Actually, it looks like it is in front of the Nail Salon. What was your original point?

...city workers loafing off.

How does being parked imply goofing off? How do we know from this photo that they aren't answering a call somewhere on that street? At least they don't seem to be illegally parked.

They were sitting in the ambulance eating McDonalds. They gotta eat too.

As for the other inane comment, this bothers me because private companies are taking over public property.

he crappy think thats bad walk arounf the corner on 69th and check out the beer place on any weekday thats th biggest mess in the area blocked sidewalks and just filthy

Verizon isn't directly responsible for this - it's the cellphone store.

That looks like an "authorized dealer" store - aka about all Verizon has to do with them is supplying them phones, ad material, and supplying the service for the phones

VERY few cell phone stores (of any brand) are owned/run by the cell phone company. In this case, I would NOT blame Verizon for something someone else did

Well, Verizon may not own the store, but someone supplied a Queens location with no (legal) useable outdoor space with a giant wind sock. We can't all just stand around playing the finger pointing game.
As for the ambulance, they are alowed to eat too, and they can't make an emergency happen.

i thought the point of the mcdonalds with ambulance in front was this: they were either picking up someone or, ironically, stopping in for some eats. mcdonalds runs the "cafeteria" at the elmwood hospital, so the idea of frontline healthworkers eating fastfood like that (when any street vendor would be at least a step up) is also part of the irony, i guess.

Indeed. And can we really trust them to care for our own health, in the event of an emergency, when they obviously don't care much about their own health, clogging up their artieries with all that junk food? Anyone who had to get mouth to mouth from them would probably wind up with bits of hamburger and fries in their lungs!

Their job is to respond to your emergency, render crucial first aid and transport you expediently to the ER, which they do quite well. It is not their job to act as your personal nutritionist or provide you with sound eating choices. We are all big boys and girls, and we can all choose to eat as we see fit. Your a dork.
How is the A-Frame sign illegal?

Queens Crapper said...

Because it says so in the sanitation codes. Now who's a dork?

To everyone who thinks that the ambulance parked in front of McDonalds is there because they are on call, you are wrong. I walk by there EVERYDAY between 8 - 11 PM. They are parked there ALL the time. Its either in front of McDonald's or the Maspeth Federal Bank. There are two people inside, one is always eating something and the other is on a laptop. I think they're sitting there cus they're using someones WiFi. They sit there for hours with their engines idling. I'm not sure if they need to run the engine to keep equipment inside on or whatever but I know when I idle for more than 3 minutes I get a fucking ticket.

Maspeth in general has become shitty. More and more people are moving here, everyone has driveways yet nobody chooses to use them. My house is one of the few that doesnt have a driveway and I cant find a parking spot for shit after 8pm. My neighbors always decide to have a BBQ with music playing at 11PM on a Sunday night, the cops dont do anything about it. The cops in this neighborhood are a joke. I spent one night hanging out at Hush Lounge and within an hour of being there, 3 cops cars pull up, about 6 officers came out with flashlights and pointed it in my face telling me that they "smell weed" while I was smoking a cigarette. I politely told them that its tobacco, and pointed at the Marlboro sign near the filter. The lady officer told me "Stop being a fucking smartass, I know what weed smells like". Then the posse got back in their cruisers and did a U-Turn on a double yellow. <3 Maspeth Police. This is the type of shit I hate about this neighborhood. Wasnt like this 8 years ago when I first moved here.

Anywho, went a little off topic. But yea... that verizon store is shitty. I got a cell there a year ago, dude told me that everything is set up and ready to go. When I got home I noticed I cant recieve TXT's and spent the next 3 days on the phone with Verizon trying to fix it.
