Cops search for Astoria attacker

The hunt was on Monday for the Astoria attacker who robbed and sodomized a woman at knifepoint, police said.

The 27-year-old victim managed to run off and scream for help as her attacker fled on foot toward Ditmars Boulevard -- but by midday Monday, the neighborhood was still buzzing with news of the Sunday night attack.

Police: Woman Sexually Assaulted in Queens

Local politicians, meanwhile, decried the attack and promised to closely monitor the case to avoid a repeat of a 2006 case in which a man accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl skipped out on $50,000 bail and has yet to be recaptured.

"That's why we want to be in court," said City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., who represents Astoria, "so no bail is set on this animal."

That's a really interesting quote from Vallone. I guess he considers this suspect to be automatically guilty. He feels very differently about his friend Dennis Gallagher, also accused of rape. He told the Queens Chronicle: “I’ve spoken to Dennis at length about this case, and I personally believe ... he will not just be acquitted, but vindicated.”

Hypocrite.

Yes, how do we know it's not a case of he said she said where the victim willingly went into the alley and asked for it?

Because this attacker appears to be Hispanic and Dennis Gallagher is white (or pink).

I'm just angry that these things still happen. I am lulled into a false sense of safety and security by the current state of security. I don't want it to go back to how it was in the 70s and 80s when women really weren't safe to be out alone late at night.
(I agree with Fred and the two anonymouses, Vallone's double standards on this and other subjects, are laughable [seeing double like Pinky an most nights].)

Well, well, well, Vallone!

My earlier comment about your belief in Gallagher's innocence told more about you than about Gallagher.

So, if a rapist is your friend (and drinking and sexual abuse buddy?) he must be innocent? But, if he's nonwhite, he's automatically and absolutely guilty?

I told you that we learned more about you from your statement.

Think NYC is safer? How about when you call 911 and the operator tells you they can't help you or doesn't want to take your information down. Happens more often than you'd think.

Always get the ID number
that the 911 operator uses. Repeat it back to them
so they know you're on the ball.

Let them know (respectfully if possible)
that if there is NO TIMELY RESPONSE
on their part you'll be putting in a report to the
INTERNAL AFFAIRS DIVISION!

This procedure has always worked for me in producing a quick response from 911.

P.S. They'll probably ask you if you saw a GUN......
answer them that the perp was holding something black or silver in their hand.

Nobody is going to arrest you later
for being mistaken!

Sorry it has to be this way but that's the way the system seems to be working nowadays.
Too many people....too little police protection.

So, you see, when we talk about over development
putting a dangerous strain on vital services
we're not exaggerating!

Thanks for the helpful tips.

this creep is probably an illegal hard working, amnesty seeking , model american citizen wannabe, just like the one in new jersey that cold bloodedly executed those 3 college kids.

Have no doubt the attacker is another 3rd world POS who dont belong here. Rudy G and Bloomie have been giving them refuge for years to keep the Hispanic vote.

This will only bring more to this city, just like Nassau County

Wow, that looks similar to my ex-bf. Creepy. Did she notice if he was Indian at all?

Having trouble getting the 911 operator to cooperate? Response to your call for help was delayed because the 911 operated screwed it all up?

Thank Commissar Bloomberg. Controlling the failure of the emergency response system (that you pay for) is his technique for covering up the citywide crime increase.

Remember that the Commissar's default position is that he doesn't give a rat's ass about you being a victim of crime. You're just Little People. If you had bodyguards like the precious people, the criminals would leave you alone.

So, go screw yourself if you or your neighbors need the police in a hurry.

Look at the subway failures. What did the Commissar do to help? Look at the Administration for Children's Services (ACS): 10 kids died at its hands. Bloomberg lavishes praise on Mattingly, the ACS head who permitted the deaths. Saves money. Fewer mouths to feed. Fewer social workers needed. Let all the kids die and look at the money saved!

Expect far more crime with the Commissar. And from him!

Hmmm... who is responsible for public safety in this city?

Yet another example of urban deterioration of Astoria (oh, I'm sorry, we don't discuss those things in this community) .. now as to my restaurant review ... one moment ... its here somewhere ....

Back to Vallone for a moment.

Why is this attacker an "animal", but Gallagher is a long time friend who will be vindicated?

And, you will testify as a character witness in which rapist's trial?

And how will you improve public safety?

Vallone is a partner in crime with Gallagher. That will come out soon.
