Which looks more ghetto?

Which is worse...

The fact that CVS at 80th and Metro sees nothing wrong with displaying a sign in this condition, or the graffiti on the building behind it, which was obviously broken into by vandals?

(Photo was taken pre-Irene.)

They should address the sign issue but I am a customer of that CVS and the people who work there are some of the nicest people I know. The store is well maintained and the customer service is terrific. I'll give them a pass on the sign because I'm sure they are also waiting for the "front office" to take care of business on that matter. I really can't expect one of the pharmacists or a cashier to climb the pole and change the sign.

Agree with Mike.

Had this been a mom&pop, it might have gotten fixed already out of pride. But when the person who is the owner/caretaker of a store like this is 20 levels of management away, you get delayed action like this.

Actually, the ugliest looking thing in that photo its the parking lot. Why in NYC do we let people build like they are in a suburban strip mall???

Properties such as this should be mandated to build to the property line. you want a parking lot? Build it around back.

The CVS and the bank across the street from it make the intersection look all the more depressing and uninviting.

Believe it or not there is currently a zoning law on the books that all new construction on Metropolitan Ave. needs to be set back that far so NYC can eventually "widen" the avenue. As dumb as this sounds it is true. If that eyesore behind it is torn down it will have to be reconstructed 30 feet from the sidewalk.

It will be 200 years before every building along it is wholly replaced. What a joke.

In the meantime, for the next 200 years, Metro will evolve into a strip-mall.

If you think this parking lot is bad, what about the one at the corner of Metro and 71st where a new building was built about 2 years ago? There you have 6 or 8 storefronts set one car-lenghth back from the sidewalk to allow cars to ride up over the curb and park facing the stores. That's it, that's all the room there is. And because of that, pedestians get NO shade, NO shelter from rain, and have to watch for idiots backing up. GRRRR...
