Halloran Denounces “Secret Contract,” Corrupt Democratic Campaign Practices

Press release from Dan Halloran:

After City Hall News reported this week that the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee (DSCC) had a “secret contract” with the Parkside Group, guaranteeing the massive Manhattan lobbying firm 80% of the DSCC’s expenses, Council Member Dan Halloran (R-Whitestone) denounced the “secret contract” and called on an Attorney General investigation.

Halloran said: “Where does the Democratic Party stop and the lobbyists begin? This 'secret contract' shows that ethics be damned, Democrats will take care of their friends first and worry about the results later.

“This corrupt bargain reverberates throughout New York State, and Northeast Queens is not exempted. The Senator-elect, Tony Avella, claims to be independent, but is already bought and paid for by his corrupt Albany Democratic cronies. This is extortion. I’d be surprised, but like millions of New Yorkers, I’ve seen this from the Albany Democrat crowd too many times before.

“The Parkside Group, which lobbies throughout New York State and has close connections to Democratic elected officials all over Queens, has been given a blank check in the form of this secret contract. And unwitting donors to the DSCC now realize 80% of their money went to a handful of downtown Manhattan lobbyists – and they still lost the State Senate.

“I am calling for the Attorney General to investigate this ‘secret contract’ for any illegalities. And I call on Senator-elect Avella to do right by his constituents and disown these backroom dealings.”

Well Dan you better be real careful! When you expose the money then the big boys will all be coming after you. Good Luck and "Deus Vult".

We need Det. Freamon from 'The Wire' on the case. Follow the money and no telling where you'll end up.

poor Dan getting used by Vinny.
1) Is Dan really ready to "come out" attacking ?
2) Does he really think some crazy redistricting thing will give Great Neck to Avella's distict therby removing incumbent Jack Martins from the Senate ?
3) How did focuing on parkside workout for Vinnie Tabone and Padavan ?

Halloarn barely beat brand new candidate Kevin Kim in the most Republican part of the Senate district. He is gonna beat Avella ? What do they smoke at those pagan rituals ?

I mean this guy cant be that stupid. Starting a fight with those guys ? Geez, it took them a few years but look at what they did to padavan, and that guy was God. Halloran must be as nuts as he seems.

I am surprised Dan "came out" attacking too. Usually politicians dont "come out" attacking if they have things to hide, unless they have some kind of bad need to get into trouble by "coming out." Given his out of the mainstream beliefs, I guess that Dan decided that "coming out" attacking wont hurt him. Good for him.

Now he just really needs to find someone to do a better job dying his hair. He looks like Liberace with that flaming red hair.

How quickly Dan forgets the Democratic deals he made and who helped him get elected. Did not the Democrats that backed Avella also back Halloran? Check it out and connect the dots.

What a piece this guy has become, he even advertises for local businesses for fee, sorry I meant free. Where is his former Chief of staff? Oh yes, who is he affiliated with? Democrats? Parkside Democrats?

How is Meagan?

STOP

Maspeth Mom says....

My best friend had a job 20 years ago for a small time Albany Lobbyist, who is now a pretty big muckety muck. She said he was corrupt, from his personal life (cheating on his wife; over and over with interns) to the business life.

Joke Of the day:"A Republican complains about lobbyists."

Make your own punchline.

"Doofy" Dan...
you have spoken the truth in spades but wait until these clubhouse Democ-RATS unleash the secret you've been hiding to retaliate against you.

You'd be lucky to finish out your term!

Poor Councilman Halloran, alas, is a lone sheep among political wolves...just a fart in the windstorm...who will soon have his shred of "power" in the council of the corrupt erased.

Bye, bye...better prepare for your impending downfall.

Secret? you did mean secrets no?

He is planning to take over his uncles judgeship and get out of the way for Paulie V(big part of the Democratic machine). Why else did he go on a Lecture Circuit in Bulgaria this month? Fluff up his CV for his uncles Judgeship, or College law professorship.

Either way, How is Meagan?

Avella has made many enemies over the years. He still is not well-liked by the Democratic establishment and now that padavan is gone he's on his own in 2012.

I dont know if Halloran will challenge him 2012 but it certainly looks like he will.

He will probably have a primary opponent too, likely Kevin Kim or Constantine Kavadas.

North Queens loves a fighter. Dan halloran has the guts and brains and is aligned with some moderate dems in whitestone which is avella's home and other parts of the district. Tony is going to be in for the fight of his life.

What about Parkside's "pay to play" scheme?

Hire Parkside and get the Democratic Party endorsement!

Evan Stavisky is a District Leader and doesn't even live in Queens. He rents an empty apartment in Flushing to run for District Leader but he lives in Rockland County.

He needs to remain District Leader in order to perpetuate his "pay to play" scheme of controlling the Democratic Party endorsements in Northeast Queens.

Can anyone say "RICO"?

Avella likely will have one or two Democratic primary opponents, just as I posted before.

Halloran should play his cards right,IF Avella survives the primary he may be too damaged damaged to retain the senate seat should Halloran challenge him in the general election.

Just Curious Has the parkside ever did consulting for a republican or an insurgent dem?

Anonymous said...

I live in whitestone I know People are mad at the way Frank Padavan an sweet elder statesman who helped thousands of people was the victim of malicious lies. Tony did not get the seat in an honorable fashion. People will not forget.

Some Members of the Parkside should just get on their hands and knees and thank God that they were not framed by Evans former Mentor and Boss Brian Mcloughlin.

This is a pretty active board. Let me ask you this.
WHY must there be parties?
How would people feel about a REAL independent. A guy that has no political agenda, just the best interest of the community and city as a whole? Someone who comes from a working class family and has lived here (district 19) for the last 30 years of his life? Would it be someone that the PEOPLE would vote for???? Give me some feedback.

"Framed"? Or "Exposed"?

How do we know they weren't?

FBI probably did not lay all their cards out on the table yet...

Lincoln was upset slaves counted 3/5 in census but could not vote, hence amplifying other southern votes unfairly. Illegals count for redistricting amplifying the fewer registered voters in their district, so it is three times cheaper to campaign in a district with illegals than in a Republican district.

Dan, DO SOMETHING in your district.
You've done just about nothing to date.
Stop running for President already, will ya?

In actions, not in words Dan, lest you be doomed to be an utter failure as a Councilman.

Dan the Man Halloran looks for every opportunity to be in the spotlight. Yet as one post correctly stated, he has done nothing for his constituants and Our community. Too busy running for President, or Senate, or Congress, anything but doing his job. Plus, to be mired in scandal so early in his tenure. Divorce, Affair, other allegations et.al. Is this who we need?

He meets with civic leaders and organizations in his office while watching the tv behind them. He refuses to hold CB 7 accountable for anything they do.

Defends big developers and their rights, while ignoring the rights of those that hired him.

What seemed like such potential has become such inaction.

As for Padavan he was good when he started and yes did much good for our community but toward the end became ineffective. Writing a letter and waiting for a response and then forwarding a response if it ever came. It was time for Frank to go.

Avella meant well and was a rogue who pissed off everyone. Lets see what happens otherwise let us vote him out as well.

As for Parkside, the deal is get the Democratic endorsement and they pick you up automaticaly.

There are two people in the immediate area that are genuine and are not afraid to stand up for what is right. Robert LoScalzo and Al Centola, they appear to have the interst of their community at heart. Anyone know them? maybe convince them to run against whomever forgets who put them there.
