We have a state budget!

Just stopping in briefly to update y'all on the situation in Albany.

One major item in the recently passed budget affecting us is this, via Crains:

Eliminating the sales tax exemption on clothing and shoes costing under $110. The exemption would end in October, then return April 1, but exempt clothing and shoes worth $55. The $110 exemption would return April 1, 2012. That is supposed to bring in $330 million.

Might I add that if I waited 4 months to finish a project, I wouldn't have a job. Hell, if it was 4 days I wouldn't have a job.

In other news, they also caught the guys who killed the gas station attendant in Flushing and the young man on the J train platform.

The rest can wait.

Discuss and I'll be back before you know it.

the assembly would not vote to place a cap on property taxes. the senate voted for it.

is not democrat/liberal dictatorship grand?

no vote for business tax decrease in ny ?how does the 9.5% to 17% ny unemployed get hired if business is taxed out of the state?

keep up the good work losers.

REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER THEY PASSED THE BUDGET TO GET FIVE MONTHS OF SALARY, HELD BACK BY LAW.

Anonymous said...

You mean that the budget wasn't delayed like this when the Republicans were in control of the State Senate and there was a Republican Governor?

You mean that the budget was passed on time every year?

Why do you think the law holding back their salaries was on the books?

Is not selective memory grand?

Babs said...

It was Patterson (a Liberal) who was trying to pass the cap on the property taxes so your comment is baseless.

I have NO PROBLEM at all with them restoring the sales tax on clothing and shoes. In fact - I think it's a great idea.

I am THRILLED that those insane sociopaths were caught - I would have been even more thrilled if they had died a violent and painful death.

Thanks for posting Crappy.

The sales tax generated from Babs' conspicuous consumption of shoes and assorted baubles from "cute little boutiques" in Soho alone keeps NYS running for at least a week!

Hey - shopping is now a major duty for all of us because of the economy, and I'm doing my part for Team America. ... :)

why can't nys put a referendum proposition on the ballot in november to tell obama what the people think about his health rationing law?

the people of the "SHOW ME STATE,MISSOURI" voted by 70% yesterday to reject the obama/liberal /democrat law that was "FORCED ON THE STATES" through political bribery.

There are no shoes selling in Soho for under $110.

Ask your legislators. Maybe it's because they don't buy into your reight wing propaganda and think it's a good bill.

And speaking of right-wing propaganda, the "political bribery" you're referring to is what's been done by every President since George Washington (Yes!!!! Even by Ronald Reagan!!!) to get legislation that they wanted passed. It's called negotiating. This procedure will stop at about the same time that the sun burns out.

You should do more than parrot Fox News talking points.

I meant "right wing" obviously. I really need to use my spell check more.

No, you should have paid attention in elementary school, instead of playing video games and watching reruns of Gilligan's Island.

But, I'm sure you'll tell us that the reason your spelling sucks is because those greed head Republicans cut funding for education, and therefore they couldn't hire quality teachers to properly motivate you.

You should do more than parrot Fox News talking points.

And you should stop "cut and pasting" your screeds from Huffington Post.

Actually, my taste in situation comedies ran more towards "The Dick Van Dyke Show". My taste in games ran more towards chess.

Your taste strikes me more as something along the lines of "The Mickey Mouse club".

And I never read "The Huffington Post". I prefer The New York Times and the Washington Post.

In my mind, by the way, any educational shortcomings that I have, or anyone else in this city has is more to blame on the people who run the educational system here than the Republican Party. Then again, considering the party registrations of the last two mayors...

RE:" ASK YOUR LEGISLATORS"
in America,a constitutional republic, citizens do not ask.their legislators. they tell or petition them . and when they do not concur they get voted out of office.we are not a dictatorship yet.

my life experience has placed me in a knowledge position where some of the media "parrots me".
most of the state run media disgusts and scares me.

if you are a young citizen you should watch and read conservative leaning sources also. then use your common sense to accept the facts.

At this time OBAMACARE (LIBERAL/DEMOCRAT) is being contested legally by other states in the union.e.g. OKLAHOMA , MISSOURI,VIRGINIA,LOUISIANA. COLORADO IS A POSSIBILITY AND FLORIDA IS BEING STALLED BY A LIBERAL OFFICIAL.

no federal government czar has the right to force a citizen to buy anything.

You're absolutely right -- you don't have to buy anything. If you're happy with your health plan, stay with it. I'm staying with mine.

The point of this legislation was to provide coverage to those who do not have it or cannot afford it.

I'm probably older than you, and I watch I can (even Fox) and read everything that I can get my hands on (even the Post). If you limit what you read, you wind up with a viewpoint like the one that you have, which only allows you to spout off right wing talking points.

And by "ask', I mean petition. have you petitioned your legislators, or are you just sitting at your computer?

Re Monserrate's not returning his NYS Senate parking placard:

"I really don't know why", Nieves [Monserrate's campaign spokesman] said.

Nieves pay attention. It's quite simple:

Monserrate es un elitista. El disfruta la buena vida, el dinero, es prestigia.

So do you.

Gary the Agnostic said...

Believe it or not, George, I couldn't agree with you more. And Hiram wouldn't give that placard back if his life depended on it.

add the states of Utah and idaho that have healthcare laws on the books and oppose obamacare.

the nyc. charter commission should place this issue on the november ballot.how many citizens agree?

obamacare swaps $500,000,000,000,.00 in medicare benefit cuts for adding other people to their insurance fantasy.they do not have the money to sustain the program that the democrat/liberal law "forced" on the American citizens.

i experienced a Shumer aid not recording my request and dialogue to have the senator vote
against obamacare.she hung up on me when i asked her to repeat my message.

is not liberal/democrat dictatorship grand?

Anonymous said...

How does that pertain to the New York City Charter?

Anonymous said...

By that, I mean that the Charter Revision Commission is there, theoretically, to consider the restructuring of the New York city government (in reality, it's there as a function of Bloomberg's fourth term campaign committee), not as people there to respond to wingnut fantasy.

You worship the icon of an anthropomorphic globe with arms and legs sitting on a toilet? You only believe something is true if it comes from such icon?

I swear on the seven arms of Shiva, you Bunkerites are crazy!!

the n.y.c.charter revision committee decides which questions make it on to the voter ballots.

will not the 8 to 15 million new york citizens be affected by the obamacare law FORCED on them by a liberal /democrat dictatorship?

when the medical profession can not get paid for their
service to medicare patients, they will stop treating the senior citizens.

georgetheatheist said...

Oh, they'll "treat" them alright. They'll be sent to the Death Panel.

Read the City Charter instead of the stuff you read.

The Charter Revision Commission deals only with governmental issues, not political ones, such as yours.

You want it on the ballot?

Petition!!!!

RE: ASK YOUR LEGISLATOR,

let us read your statement of proof,in the section of the charter revision committee ? Be specific.
government consists of Executive(mayor,president),
Legislative(c.m.,u.s.senate/u.s.representatives) Judiciary(n.y.c. courts, u.s.supreme court).

they draft the law, vote nay or aye ,the executive signs it into law,it is a law .unless the judiciary rules it unconstitutional.
i am happy to hear that you are well read. it seems that the democrat congress did not read the 2200 page obamacare bill prior to passing it .

speaker, nancy pelosi said "we have to pass the bill to find out what's in it" a minority cong. from Mich. said" who could read 2200 pages, you need a lawyer next to you to understand it."
